I am Heart broken about my amaryllis

Mine just got leaves on it this past year, but I've had them in the same pots for several years and they've bloomed during the summer. Even when they look dead in the pot they sprout some leaves and do their thing. I've never put one in the ground so I don't know about that.

Wanted info about planting by the moon

I don't know if it would help you out, but I have at least 17 issues of the Old Farmer's Almanac in my bookcase. I think there's planting tables in all of them from what I remember. If you'd like me to look up dates for you for specific years I should be able to do that after Christmas sometime...

    Japanese Beetles!

I agree with Bernie. SIXTEEN! I think you should put some birth control pellets out there. prettylady, I wondered if the oil and soap combination would be counterproductive to each other, but if you've used it that long and it works, it must be okay.

    horseradish??

A friend used to grow and prepare horseradish and she always did it outside. She had a dedicated blender to grind it because the flavor contaminates whatever it touches. She grew it well away from everything else because it was invasive. I think she had it in tires with a bottom on them, but I...

    Japanese Beetles!

I bet that was awful. Maybe my bug spray would have removed it!

    Japanese Beetles!

From various sources I came up with a solution of Dawn, Murphy's oil soap, canola oil, granulated garlic -not garlic salt!, and water in a spray bottle. I saw to plant garlic near plants you don't want bothered by them and since it's a little late to do that I sought the next best thing. They...

    Gypsy Moths on Maples

You know how my luck with the trees as been over the years so I pounced when I saw those big ones. One of the benefits of the internet seeing that they were what I thought they were and learning their habits. I've seen a couple moths the past few days, but they were females and easy to kill...

    Will my daffodils recover?

I think they'll be fine, too. Even if you want to add additional bulbs you still can. They'll probably last a century or two if they're in the right spot. lol If their feet are too soggy or they don't get quite enough sunlight I think those are the only hindrances I've ever had with mine.

    Wild Strawberries.....

I can remember when I was a kid they grew right next to the north side of the house. Now they're about probably 20 feet away, but it's the same size berries. I feel like a kid again finding them. Of course that doesn't take much.

    Gypsy Moths on Maples

I noticed that some of the caterpillars were just hanging from the tree by one end like they were dead and then I realized they were probably going through their metamorphosis into mothdom. :) I say were because they ain't no mo'! And yesterday I saw an egg cluster on one of my fruit trees in...

    Gypsy Moths on Maples

These aren't tent caterpillars. They just eat. I know what tent caterpillars are though. My dad used to torch them off the fruit trees we had. These only make a little tan flat patch on the side of the tree when they lay their eggs. I've seen quite a few sites about gm's, but this particular one...
