I have several Alstromeria plans growing in pots which I leave outside all spring and summer. I am overwintering them in my unheated south facing porch. I had expected that they would go dormant in the cold weather but they didn't, they continued to grow foliage but very few flowers. My question is, should I pull out some of this foliage to make room for the flowering stems in the spring or just leave them? I am located in middle Tennessee so the winters are reasonably mild. Thanks for any advice

Best leave the foliage as it is since it is this foliage that is fattening up the tubers (yes, the roots have tubers) which will send up flowering stems when the temperature, and light intensity is high enough!
