Hey my name is Rachel. I live in South Carolina approx 10min by the birds eye view from the coast. I recently planted Asian pear tree grafts sent from Burpee about 3-4 weeks ago. I have questions about pruning. Which branches should be cut and should I go ahead and identify the leader (which branch is the leader?) and prune back other branches. See attached photos. I planted two trees. Please help since I’m new to this! Thank y’all! And I’m happy to be a new gardener here to the forum.

Hi Rachel,
Welcome to our forum!
Since you just planted the tree this year I would not do any pruning.
If the blossoms set fruit please remove them.
Your tree is putting its energy into developing a root system.
Next year you can begin pruning to give the tree a uniform shape.
The rule on pruning is to never remove more then 1/3 of the total growth.
