I have been growing my own bay leaves for a few years. I would like to capture the fragrance to use in candles of ointments. Has anyone ever done this?

Hi Nancy
Welcome it's good to meet you.
I have never grown bay (laurel) leaves
Are they easy to grow?

I use to infuse oils with herbs. I imagine it is somewht the same.
If I were going to experiment, I would start with sesame oil and slowly warm the leaves in the oil. The ratio of leaves to oil must be high as it take alot of herb oils to scent. You may do better to wait until the tree flowers and use the flowers or the very tender leaves as opposed to the waxy hard leaves. Just a quick thought.
