We have been saving shower water and using it on the garden. It takes about 2 gallons until the water gets hot, so we just fill a pot. Sometimes the water gets hot, but we let it cool and use it on the garden. I am wondering if we lose any nutrients from the water by doing this?
We have been using it on our red potatoes. For some reason this year, the leaves have black spots, doesn't look like pics I have seen of blight. Just wondering if the 2 things could be related? Appreciate any input.

Let me get this straight..you collect the cold water from the shower before it gets hot?
If this is the case, then sure, you can use the water on your veggie patch!
Black spot on you potatoes is just coincidental!
Ideally, there are no nutrients in the water. Only a minor amount of minerals and these wouldn't be affected.

I always use water that has been heated ( i.e. if I have boiled eggs or something like that) how ever it is not the only water source used. I agree with Ron that the black spots are not related to your reusing of water.
PS kudos on being conservative! Oh , and welcome to the forum
