A friend has what she thinks is a delphinium. I haven't verified this yet as its leaves are different from the one I just bought my mom. Of course, different varieties, different leaves. Anyway, last year I noticed that there were a couple of single sprouts coming up that were away from the original plant. This year, there is at least 10. They are spread out and one of them is about 2' away from the original plant. It is growing up through one of those ugly evergreen type bushes and is quite large. Are these actual plants that will produce flowers and can they be transplanted? I seem to remember reading something about certain plants that have these little offshoots that don't do anything but cause problems. I suppose it might be easier if I snap a few pictures.
I also think this same thing is going on with one of her hydrangeas. The plant has been in her backyard for quite a while and has grown pretty large. I'm wondering if I can take this sprout that is now about 10" tall and pot it or something.
Thanks as always!

Photos will definitly help in Iding the sprouts!
Delphs do not send out underground runners, but do reseed themselves.
Yes, you can dig up a sucker from the hydrangea and pot it up, but check to see if the sucker has started to send out roots! If not, wait a few weeks for the sucker to mature more and check again. Once you see some roots severe the sucker from the parent plant and pot it up!
I'll post some pics later today of the plant in question. I'm slowly starting to get the hang of this thing they call gardening! I appreciate the info on the hydrangea as I wanted to yank that for my mom. The term sucker just makes it sound like it's a bad thing.

Definitely not a delphinium!
Looks familiar, but can't think of it at the moment!
Some other member my recognize it!
Looks like a sprawler and something that will take over in little time! Best to confine it as soon as possible!
I do not think it will be a very nice bloomer, but the foliage is nice!
OK, good to know. If anyone else has any idea please let me know so I can research it. This sprawling thing only started last year and I think she's had it for quite a few years. It got worse this year. I don't remember much of a bloom on it from last year because it was pretty late in the season before it produced anything.
