Silphium perfoliatum or Cup plant is actually a native flowering plant found in most parts of the eastern United States, reaching a height of about eight feet. The Cup plant is a bright yellow perennial flower and is a welcome addition to gardens for its attractiveness to bees and other beneficial insects. The Cup plant is a member of the aster family; the plants provide profuse garden color from early summer throughout the fall.
