Mustard greens originated from Asia. The Botanical name is Brassica juncea. The common names are Mustard, spinach greens, Chinese mustard, leaf mustard. Actually Mustard green is a cool-season leaf crop. Sow the mustard green seeds as early as four to six weeks before the average last frost date in spring. Sow succession crops every four to six weeks. Mustard green requires thirty to forty days to reach harvest. Plant the crops so that they can come to harvest before temperature average is greater than seventy-five degree Fahrenheit. Sow the mustard green seeds in autumn or early winter in mild winter regions.
