My mother has a hydrangea that is dying. It survived the frosty nights we had about a month ago here in Michigan but the blooms were damaged so she cut them way back. The plant started to show signs of recovery as small leaves were sprouting. Unfortunately, the place that she had originally planted it was lower and water tended to pool around it so she dug it up and put it in a pot with fresh potting soil. Since then, the plants has slowly turned brown. I'm not even sure if there is any life left in it. Is there a suggestion as to what can be done to try and save it? Is it possible that you can over water it at this point? Does it need lots of sun or partial shade?

I hate to see $20 plus dollars spent on a plant and then have it die. It's frustrating.

That will be another $20 gone to the compost heap!
Sorry, once the root system is rotted there is not much you can do!
