Does anyone have any experience with Knockout roses? I'm getting all kinds of conflicting information on what to do with these things. There are four in total that need to be trimmed back for the winter. I've also heard/read that they should be brought inside but I don't know if that means a garage or the house. It would still be freezing in the garage so I don't see what it matters. The thought of having to pull these things out of the ground is not exciting. Every time I try to relocate something, it dies. Input is appreciated. Thanks.

Great! Thanks. I'm not much of a gardener and have already killed quite a few things this past summer. I don't want to add more.

Ok!
Can you post a list of things you killed?
We might be able to help out for next year if you would kile to try again.

I'm still trying to find specific details in regard to these knockouts as far as cutting them back. I think she wants them taken down as close to the ground as possible. When I say "as possible", I mean somewhere in the 6 to 8" range. I'm finding all sorts of information. Some say to not touch them at all for the first two years. Others say to prune them back but it sounds like they are just taking a little off the top. These roses have grown to around 1.5' at the most. That might be a generous measurement. I haven't seen them in awhile but I'm heading down there in about an hour so I'll know better then. This lady buys things based on what she reads or sees but never bothers to fully understand the proper care. Even if I tell her, it doesn't sink in. If she insists, I'll cut the things right down, however, I'd rather be fully informed before I do. That way, I can present her with the info and give her the options.

If it under 2 ft tall I would leave it alone!
She sounds like someone who shouldn't be gardening except for ornamental evergreen shrubs!;)

I have three knock out roses......I just cut them backthis weekend to 6 inches like last yr.....they regrow and do terrific.......easy and carefree........
