I'm having trouble trying to figure out why my pear trees are not producing -- not even flowering.
I planted 2 pear trees in 2019: a Ublineen Pear and a Jungs Hardy Pear. Both have grown well -- they're roughly 10' tall. However, neither one ever blossoms and I don't understand why. They are about 16' apart and we're in central Wisconsin (zone 4.5).

It’s understandable to be frustrated when healthy pear trees don’t bloom. Since you planted your Ubileen and Jung’s Hardy pear trees in 2019 and they’ve grown well but haven’t flowered, several factors could be at play. First, some pear varieties take 5–10 years to mature and begin blooming, especially depending on the rootstock. Excess nitrogen can also cause lush leafy growth at the expense of flowers, so avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers and opt for balanced or low-nitrogen options. Ensure the trees get full sun (at least 6–8 hours daily), as inadequate light can delay flowering. In your zone (4.5), late spring frosts may damage developing flower buds, especially if the variety is sensitive to cold. Additionally, improper or excessive pruning can remove budding wood, and while you have two varieties, double-check their pollination compatibility and timing to be sure they can support each other. With a little patience and some adjustments, you’re likely close to seeing them bloom.
