I have read where the porcelain vine is considered invasive. Here is my question. Would it kill the trees it grows on? I have an area of my side yard that is wooded and was thinking of putting some of this in to fill out the gaps between trees. But obviously not if it is going to kill everything it grows on.

Not a good idea Tom!
The vines do produce a lot of berries and the larger the vines the more they produce.
The vines grow similar to Virginia Creeper and wild grapes, and will bring down trees under the weight of the vines in a couple dozen years!
When I weigh the pros and cons, they are more aggressive then invasive!
Like wild grapes you will need to hack and slash yearly in order to keep them under control!
The question should be: are you willing to deal with their aggressive growth habits as well as the seedlings that will come up everywhere?
You might be better off planting shade loving shrubs and small trees to fill in the gaps!
