What fungicide should I use to control the black sooty mold now that the scale has been treated? I'm hoping that it will also control the powdery looking mold "stuff" that grows on one of her other plants every year. I'm not sure what the name of that plant is but it gets a white powdery substance every year. Thanks as always!

Hey Matt!
A fungicide with a copper/sulphur base works well.
The white powdery stuff on your other plant is powdery mildew and the fungicide will treat that also.
It would be prudent to remove all the old mulch and apply new stuff.
The reason for doing this is to remove and prevent fungi and mold spores from splashing back up from the mulch after every rain!
Perfect. Thanks! I was actually thinking of removing the mulch as it's the red kind. The lady that I do all this amateur lawn/garden care for read something about arsenic concerns in that type of mulch. I haven't found all the details yet but I was going to ask if she wanted me to remove it. I'll definitely mention this to her.
