I moved to a new house last June and inherited this rhododendron. It looked just fine when I moved in, and as I can see from the picture, the rhody set flower buds.
Starting in late summer and fall, I noticed that the plant was not looking as healthy, and it just got worse over the winter. Looking at the inside of the bush, I can see a fair amount of dead small branches, but I don't know that those are new, as a former owner did not prune regularly.
So, my obvious two questions are: (1) what could be causing this, and (2) what can I do about it?
