I am fairly new to gardening and green spaces. As of right now, I am barely two years in. After recently buying a house with my girlfriend a few years ago; the previous owner had a small garden in our small backyard(townhome living). The backyard is mostly pavers, so not much green. Because of the lack of green space, the yard was pretty much a deadzone. To spruce it up, my girlfriend wanted to plant lilies in our small garden. Her favorite flower. She is not much of a gardener and not very focused on them. So I took over and helped grow them. Much to my surprise, I actually enjoyed planting new plants, flowers and tending to them. A true accidental gardener. I had no experience with them prior to buying this house and I have done fairly well with our small garden. I have also since added a bunch of container plants to add more green space. It adds a little bit of peace on a warm spring, summer, and fall day. That with a good beer and grilling. It also reminds me of my mom's green space in major city living. The smell of lilac and roses permeating the air. Defintely two of my favorites. I tend to grow repeat blooming perenials. I figure I want the best bang for the buck.

I also am huge into landscape photography. So growing flowers in a garden gives me good subject matter.
