    Cutting all the tree's

Probably selling the timber in advance of selling the land. Looking back I should have scored me several hundred acres when I was young so that I could at least ensure my privacy late in life. As it is, we just had a motor-sports complex go up practically in our back yard. Now it stadium...

    Recipe Pineapple Meringue Pie

Crushed pineapple in it's own juice or crushed pineapple in syrup or does it even matter? Sounds like a good recipe!!

    Oven Germination

Never heard of this either, but will be putting my corn seed in the oven tomorrow night since I haven't been able to get it planted yet. Cant wait to see what happens!

    Bird Houses

You guys are so talented and creative. That sort of thing just isn't in my gene pool. I could probably build a birdhouse easily enough but I just don't have any skills when it comes to painting and decorating. We have bluebird houses, purple martin gourds (did grow some of those), and a variety...

    Tomatoes

I saw one lonely tomato on a Better Boy but sacrificed it for what I hope will be better production later. Hard thing to do, though. Nothing in the world beats a fresh juicy tomato slathered with good old southern Duke's mayo, salt and a hefty dose of pepper. Counting down the days....

    BIRD PICS and TALK

Bob's reply reminded me of some neighbors across the street. When we first moved there I would periodically hear screams coming from inside their home. I really thought this guy was beating up on his wife but since I never could SEE any proof I held off on calling the police. Good thing, too...

What Tomatoes are you going to grow?

We picked up Better Boys, Celebrity, Brandywine, Cherokee Black, and sweet 100's. I saw the Mortgage Lifter but didn't know anything about them. May go back and pick that one up as well. We've got 10 to put in the ground but will wait until Good Friday to plant. Supposed to frost/freeze the next...

    Sneaky Snakes

Can't say that I'd be up for a day of rattler rustling. My husband is phobically terrified of snakes of any kind and kills them if he comes across them. I'd probably just avoid them and let them go about their business. We had a corn snake in the purple martin gourds last year. Between my...

    Post your rose finds here!

Kale, I didn't put it in water. It occurred to me, but I thought that leaving it in water all day might not be the best thing to do, so I dug a temporary hole in a soft soil area, watered and planted it there. Since replanting that night I've been checking on it every day. It doesn't look any...

    Compost anyone?

One thing about living out here in the country....the fields in our area have been getting their annual "dumping" of chicken poo over the last few weeks. That is the most fowl smelling stuff ever.. hehehehe

    Post your rose finds here!

tongue in cheek...my "find" was a trail of potting medium leading to my now bare-rooted recently purchased rose next to a happy, tail-wagging mutt in my neighbor's yard. This was yesterday morning when I went out to warm up my car. I temporarily planted it until I could get home last night and...

Thanks a million for sharing with us, especially the uncommon measures...very funny...printed the netire thing off to put in my family cookbook!

Recipe How do you cook skinless boneless chicken breasts?

The other day I put them in the crockpot with sliced onions, fresh sliced mushrooms, minced garlic, pepper, and cream of chicken soup (undiluted). Sprinkled the top with paprika, put the crock pot on low, and let them do their thing.

    Dogs

My sister had a daschund that her vet proclaimed the "ugliest daschund he had ever seen". Poor Zeke had some, let's say, "developmental issues", and was constantly tripping over his own snout. At least I never had to worry about him running after me and trying to nip at my ankles!

    What birds

I love the painted and indigo buntings! We get them later on in the late spring/early summer. Also cedar waxwings for the first time last year. They are beautiful birds, too.
