We were new to Oregon in 2003 and the spring of 04 I started writing stuff down and now its fun to read it and see what I did and how it worked good and bad..We are Fairfield ca transplants and I found gardening different and lots better up here..Love it even if its 21 out this morning..

My Mantis tiller even with my tiny yard I use it..my circle hoe, bamboo rake and my short shovel and short rake..Gloves and pruners too

I keep a garden journal in a binder..I make time to update it and plan for next year..Its fun to see what worked and what didn't..Just keeping the yard looking sorta clean even if it is a bit muddy ect..

Thank you for the help..When I figured out what the plant was I realized I had a plant not native to Oregon but to my native California..Yesterday before it started raining I shaped it a bit..Will leave it alone from now on..Its just a neat shrub to have in the garden..

Have question for you about pruning..Trust me I have looked till I'm blue face the answer..I have a Styrax redivives aka drug snowball bush .I didn't plant this it came with the house, so do you prune old growth or new growth..Its full of silly little stick branches.Last year I pruned to...

Petunia's of every shape size and color..We have six big window boxes on our front porch 4 of which we fill with lots of petunia's or simply put Bling to show off to the world and then lots of them in my flower beds....I forget how many I bought last spring but it was bunches.......

Thanks for the idea's..I'm going to make a list of all the suggestions I get and take it with me tuesday..The guys have already vetoed roses, but the others sound great..

My small lawns I love them and my two cockers love them..I love the clover in them..The boys (dogs)play on the lawn, chase bee's and tennis ball..I mow every other week..
I'm having a big debate now whether to buy a new electric mower and keep my gas mower...Big decesion...

Roses that came with the house when we bought 5 years ago are Ron Regan, Spice Twice as Nice and a mini that is JP's Bubble Gum (I had one at my house in Suisun Ca).Now I have added, Nancy Regan, Aroma Therapy, Sun splash, the bubble gum rose had a baby this spring curitosy...

Thank you for starting this thread..I love roses and have as many as my small yard can handle..Not fussy in their care but just the same they get lots of it..Out here in Oregon they bloom about 7 months out the year so I have lots color..
To the new roses gardener to let them scare...
