    Looks like a Mockingbird. They must have a nest somewhere close and that's why they attack. They can be quite vicious!!! If you want to get rid of the birds..you'll have to take out the nest and hope they don't rebuild!!!

    Oh gosh, thanks for this info Treva. I'll take it up and do a good cleaning..I just kinda pulled away most of the rot but didn't really clean it that well. There was a lot of rooting under the rot so I take it that it was trying hard to contain it's self. Do you know what the cinnamon does for it?

    Melissa, they're 6-7 inches across. The white ones are a little bigger than my red ones. Dor, none of mine bloomed the first summer I planted them. Good luck with your seeds.

    I just found out that these plants can't take sitting in soaking wet soil. The plant at the top of the page was in a container that holds water in the bottom of the pot which kept the soil soaking wet. I didn't realize how wet the soil was staying. I keep them outside and we've had some rain...

    Rosy, usually removing dead blooms (deadheading) will help plants to continue blooming. It's not a gaurantee that more blooms will produce but who wants dead blooms hanging on anyway..:)

    Yes, it was Allison that started us with the desert roses. She sent me seeds but I had no luck, then Jo sent me seeds and I had this one plant to live. I have one older plant that Penny sent me but it hasn't bloomed yet.
