Recipe Ready for the county fair...

Gloria, I did share everything... I never measure out anything, I just go by feel and how much I need... The catsup has lots of spices that blend nicely with the soy sauce, and salt... It comes out tasting wonderful, and is simple enough that even I can remember it and get it right... I've left...

Recipe Ready for the county fair...

Sure, I cut the strips about an inch wide, perhaps four inches long, and as thin as I can. I marinate the meat in my "marinade" for a day or so then use my dehydrator to finish the jerky... I make my own marinade from catsup, a dash of soysauce, and salt to taste... There are MANY others...

Use 4th of July Tomato seeds from Burpee... Start them indoors in Feb., set them out in the garden the first of April in Wall-O-Water jacktes and you will have ripe ones by now...

Recipe Ready for the county fair...

Exerpt from my website: Following the directions that came with our pressure cooker, to hot pack venison, I do the following: Cut venison into bite size squares. Remove ALL fat, and as much tough membrane as possible. According to your canning directions, clean the desired number of pint...

Recipe Ready for the county fair...

No, they are just processed whole according to canning directions... These are Detroit Dark Red beets which have a wonderful sweet taste... The only sweeter beet that I have ever grown is the Lutz beet which gets huge, about the size of a softball, but retains it's wonderful taste...

    Oh deer!!!

Ventured out into the sticks this morning awash in mosquito repellent, and was rewarded with 47 pictures... Here are but a few... The first four are at Carolyn's and the last one is in another woods.. In the second picture, notice how well you can see the udder... Dave

    Getting ready for the fair...

I wish it was in the fall... It's always very hot out there, and this is the reason I have to plant everything so early and put the tomatoes out in the Wall-O-Water jackets.. It's hard to get things ready for our fair... This year it starts on July 11th... I made a similar post to this in the...

    Getting ready for the fair...

Well all, as many of you know I always enter lots of vegetables in the county fair... This will be our 27th year if memory serves. Now, these displays are nowhere near ready, as the onions need to be topped to one inch, and I wait till the morning that they are entered to do that... The tomatoes...

    Onion Question

Update on my big sweet onions... Just within the past week, they have started growing (the bulb) and now are the largest onions I have ever grown... The tops are still tall and green showing no sign of wilting yet, so I'm letting them alone... It's possible that they will be the yellow skin...

    Tater question

Okay, I couldn't wait to see what these little berries looked like inside, so I picked just one... The Russet potatoes are starting to die down but will be another week or so before they are ready to dig, and from the looks of this berry it will be at least that long for them as well... I am...

    Raspberry the animated doe

Best thing to do is log onto my website and join my discussion forum... It's a little slow this time of year, but like this site, it's replete with great folks... Dave http://www.handloadingforhunting.com

    Raspberry the animated doe

Absolutely not... I have several pictures of the does fighting and kicking one another... This one just lent itself to "interpretation"... The only thing I did was add the thought bubble, and manage to misspell "Photo-Op"... Here is a picture of what some of them looked like after the scuffle...

    Raspberry the animated doe

Meet Raspberry, the most animated deer I have ever seen... She almost always has either her mouth open (sorry ladies) or her tongue out and is always doing something unusual... She even gave me a picture that I used to make a happy birthday card for wife...
