Lets share pictures of our gardens!

Myfedora, I won't have any second plantings here in Indiana, but a bunny has leveled my beets and has chewed the dickens out of my granddaughter's cabbage plants... There could be a deceased rabbit if I get a shot at it!!! Of course, I could do to the rabbit what I did to a neighbors cat years...

    Onion Question

I think rot WILL be a problem with onions here as well this year... Any wet spring will do that... I always pull my onions two weeks before the fair and let them cure on the front porch... This year, with the exception of the ones I enter in the competition, I think I will give them an extra...

    Onion Question

Hold on y'all... I may have asked this question a few days too soon... It's been so wet here that I had not been able to get into those onions to weed them, but day before yesterday I did, and with only a couple of exceptions, these onions have shot up and seem to be growing normally... The two...

Am I planting my green beans too deep?

If you keep having problems, dampen your seeds just before planting and dust them with Captan or other fungicide powder... That will get them going... Also, rather than rose dust on those tender shoots you can mix fine powdered pepper or something similar with water and spray that on them... One...

Bernie, our fair is in early July, and you bet your best hunting boots I'll be ready!!! I already have tomatoes setting on, onions and potatoes are right on time as are the carrots and beets... Oh, and Bernie, that sunburn IS as painful as it looks... :( Dor, fabulous looking pictures...

Am I planting my green beans too deep?

Hi John and welcome from you neighbor in Frankfort, IN. Two inches is a bit deep... If you have to plant again I would opt for about one inch... The other thing to remember is that it's best to augment your soil, IE till in mulch, leaves, etc., etc. in the fall... If there is too much...

Nobody should have to look at this much "ugly", but my wife, who is laughing at me about my sunburn insisted on me posting this picture... She thinks it's hilarious that I spent five hours on the tractor in a tank top and said is serves me right... She said you ol' fool, you are a DC9 Captain...

Lets share pictures of our gardens!

Gosh... Haven't even visited my own thread for a few day here... Been really busy.. Yesterday I was on a tractor for 5 1/2 hours helping with planting since our area is WAY behind... Now I'm sporting one of the best sunburns I've had in years... :( Guess this old retired airline pilot really...

    Onion Question

Yep, that is EXACTLY what is happening... I went out and pulled weeds a couple hours ago, (AKA getting away from nine screaming, fighting grandkids) and sure enough, with leaves only six to eight inches tall, they are already forming bulbs... Problem solved, and thanks so much for taking time to...

    Onion Question

I guess what I am asking is what geographical areas are considered long day and short day areas if that makes any sense, and what, if any, diference is there in growing these large onions?

    Onion Question

Yeah... I found that link too... Just would like to be able to grow them regardless of what I can call them...

    Onion Question

Hi all... Hope your weekend is going well... I have an onion question... As many of you know, I have grown red, white, and yellow onions for years and years... I always grow them from sets that I purchase at the local farm store... The catalog seed companies don't ship them early enough for me...
