Thanks and good luck with the camera... We have had record rains all April and much of May, and as you can see, I've not been able to get at the weeds... Today however I've run the tiller between rows and am able to get in and hoe.. Dave

    My garden update

Well everyone, I have everything in and going nicely... If you recall, I set the tomatoes out in late March in Wall-O-Water tents, and my early tomatoes already have blossoms... Here are a few pictures...

    Rain rain go away...

WOW! In central Indiana here, we have a little too much of a good thing.. Planting of corn and beans is way behind for the farmers, and I need to be able to get my potatos and a couple other things in the ground... Anybody else having this problem in your area?

    Raised veggie beds

I have used wide row raised beds for over 25 years, albeit slightly different than the permanent "raised bed." I use my TroyBilt Tiller to ready the garden, then make several passes in the area I intend to "raise." I then use my heavy garden rake to pull up the soil from the sides to raise the...

    Garden update...

They sure do Bernie... Burpees has them if you don't find them locally... The last time we went to Hawaii it was 16 degrees when we left for the airport and I told her that if they make it fine, and if they don't I'll just have to get transplants... When we got home, the plants were just fine..

    Garden update...

Well, I'm up and running, or perhaps I should say my "maters" and "omins" (grandson's pronunciation) are up and running... I also planted a raised, wide row of carrots a couple of days ago... It's been cold and wet and we are forecast to have snow showers for the next few days, but the...

    My fish pond...

The mesh is to keep the owls from picking off my fish...

    Planted today...!!!

We could still get snow too, but the Wall-O-Water tents work just great... I've had it down to 17 degrees, the water inside was frozen, and the plants (tomatoes) did just fine... This is the only way I can get them ready in time for our very early county fair... And of course nothing will hurt...

    My fish pond...

While I was out planting tomatoes today and taking pictures, I took one of my pond as well... Still have some spring cleaning (of the bottom) to do, but it looks really good and the fish came through winter just fine... Most of the fish are ten years old and older... My lilly pads are starting...

    Planted today...!!!

Well everybody, it was finally dry and nice today and I got my tomato plants set out in their Wall-O-Water hot houses... The onions are also out... Sure feels good now that it's getting to be spring...

    Tilling...

I do that with my garlic... Only I plant it late Sept. or early Oct.

    Tilling...

Well, now that you mention it, these are yellow, so I don't know. I wish they would put the type on the package instead of just a generalization... Anyway, here is what I have done so far... Now that I finished this today, I'm laying around with the heating pad under my back... :(

    Tilling...

As far as the white, yellow and red onions I grow, they never say what kind they are... They just say; "Selected for the proper growing region." Same with the big sweet onions, but I think they are Vidallia...
