what is your hardiness zone and elevation

Hmmmm a couple other sources have Granger between 800 and 1000 feet. I suppose it depends on exactly where the measurement is taken?? Dora

what is your hardiness zone and elevation

We are zone 5a with an elevation of 0. Not sure what the elevation means....does that explain the windy wind that we get so frequently around here? Dora

    Cardinals

I was really excited when I saw a cardinal at my feeder last year. My daughter has commented that we have more colorful birds here than in Oregon. Dora

What was on my hood and windshield

I used to get frost like that in Oregon. I think we are too dry in Iowa for frost like that. Dora

Come and Grow A Rose With Me

I used about a teaspoon or so per plant, I don't measure just sprinkle a little around each bush. I did this in Oregon and here in Iowa....haven't killed any yet :-) I don't use bone meal as that encourages my doggie to dig in my flower beds. Dora

    Recipe Chopped liver

I'm with you Crabber, I'd rather eat grass clippings than liver. When I was a kid and naughty my mom would have me eat dinner in my room. If dinner was liver it would get quietly tucked into my slippers. I was never so glad to learn that something wasn't good for then when they said liver would...

    Poor shade house

What is a shade house? Hi GardenBear, I can't quite tell from your picture what a shade house is. Is it a work area, a seating area??? I agree with LynnPenny, it's the probably the weight of the snow. We had a ton of snow last year and a gal I know said the walls of her home started to bow...

    White Pine weeping sap

I would not be as presumptuous as to say what is ailing this fine tree but I would suggest contacting your local extension office to get a definitive diagnosis before beginning any kind of treatment. If it is something that is treatable you don't want to waste valuable time and resources...

No really new from the Great Plains

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to pop on and say Hi as it's been quite a while since I've been hanging out with all of you. We had a family member leaving a situation of domestic violence and we all went a bit underground to protect the safety of this family member. We are still on status yellow...

Good for you Treva! When my grandparents passed, I made it through the funerals fine but when I went and saw their beautiful garden neglected and bare it about did me in. Dora/Garden Goddess

Lets share pictures of our gardens!

Unstuck? So the question is how'd we get that tractor out?? We tried putting in reverse. We tried rocking. We tried brute force pushing while in reverse. We tried a carpet scrap for traction. We finally decided to give our PT Cruiser a try. And wouldn't you know...that ol gal...

Lets share pictures of our gardens!

Hi all, I'm not doing a veg garden but I thought I'd share my gardening adventures. Yesterday we were spreading mulch, 6 yards worth woof! Anywho Bob thought he'd tried to get the dump trailer closer by quickly swinging through a part of the bed that didn't have anything in it yet. Well let...
