    Unusual Pear tree fruit growth

Wouldn't you know. By the time it sets fruit, they're long gone. Now I have to go buy larger pear trees in a root ball to make up for those lost years. That's a sham and a shame.

    Unusual Pear tree fruit growth

Just my luck, I think I've gotten two more trees from Arbor Day that were not what they described. One was supposed to be a Bartlett and the other an Orient Pear tree. Both flowered pretty good this year and some have fruit except that the fruit is pea sized. Most other pear trees are...

    Weird Leaf Fungus ?

Yes, I hope so. Now and then I see some infected leaves and pick them off. Your trees seem to have a longer growing season. From the South somewhere ? I don't know about this concept, however, with the birds landing on the tree branches and touching the leaves is it possible to spread...

    Weird Leaf Fungus ?

Ron, Would you say dormant oil is a good idea for all my fruit trees ?

    Weird Leaf Fungus ?

Man O Man, break out the surgical gloves ! I've picked off most of the infected leaves. Later on I'll grab the ladder and do the rest. Burn them, I will. This is one of the better years for my peach trees. Thanks for the tips, Ron. One thing I have to remember is not to buy products...

    Weird Leaf Fungus ?

Thanks for the tip. Now how do I control it without picking off the bad leaves ? The link indicated that I need some Lime-Sulfur spray, but only applied in the late fall after the leaves fell off. Any other suggestions ?

    Weird Leaf Fungus ?

I have a Hale-Haven Peach tree with funny looking leaves. Just bubbly looking and no content of any kind. See the picture....What is it ?

    cleaning the soil

With all the respect of doing the above aforementioned, the soil will be fine with some dilution. Animals have high alkaline urine and has salts too. Notice those doggie spots on the lawn ? A good neutralizer is Gypsum Pellets and has some micro-nutrients as well. A 40 pound bag is...

    Lemon Thyme seeds ?

Yea, I've bought 3 bush type lemon thyme plants @ $5 each. They will ship them after March 15th to where I live. Reason being, I'm interested in some natural ways to deter Varroa mites. A fairly common issue with honey bees. My soon to be 4 hives are getting some vegetation upgrades to...

    Lemon Thyme seeds ?

Most available items are already plants. Found one source of seeds but they're from Europe. 18 euros per gram (6000 seeds) is about $26.00 plus shipping. Someone sneezes and the seeds are history. Didn't think they were that small.

    Lemon Thyme seeds ?

I've looked everywhere for Lemon Thyme seeds and found nothing. Do they exist or am I chasing a "Clippings" ghost ? If so, where do you get them ?

    Lemon Tree Seeds

Thanks Treva, How long should I let the seeds dry ? So far it's been 3 days.

    Lemon Tree Seeds

My Dwarf Lemon tree just produced a "Fist" sized lemon. Quite tasty I might say too. I'm saving the seeds to dry them out. Will they work is another question ?

    Next Years Garden Seedlings

Anyone know a good place to get seedling trays & pots for garden vegetables that doesn't affect the pocketbook much ?

What kind of Pear is this ?

How do you like them apples ? I'm sure there are much fewer pear trees out there. I'd say it was a Comice pear and the other would be a Winter Nellis. Both ripen late in the year and look similar to the one pictured. The Winter Nellis is more of a yellow/light brown color stubby pear.

What kind of Pear is this ?

BlueWolf, I'll bet you wouldn't like the drippy pear on an 81 year old.....Unless you're a 98 year old coot !

What kind of Pear is this ?

A mature lady friend down the street has 3 pear trees. One is definitely a Bartlett, the 2nd has green with a pinkish-red blush on one side, and finally the third is a yellow with brown patches. The 2nd and 3rd ripen October-November. The 2nd tree I believe to be either a Kieffer or...
