Here's another if you are wanting a salad to take....
BROCOLI SALAD
2 bunches broccoli
2 cups golden raisins
10 strips cooked bacon
1 whole red onion
1 cup sunflower seeds
Dressing
3 Tablespoons sugar
1 cup mayo
1 Tablespoon vinegar
Add dressing to salad – leave...

BLUEBERRY GRUNT
This dessert is served in the summer time in the midst of the bludberry season – you eat it until you grunt!
1 quart blueberries
½ cup sugar (or to taste)
½ cup water
Boil berries, water and sugar in a large saucepan...

Blueberry Crumble
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter or oleo
Blueberries
Crumb ingredients together and place one half in a 8 x 8 pan, pressing down firmly. Cover with blueberries. Cover berries with rest of crumb mixture. Press...

I love blueberries too.....and there are so many different ways to prepare them...here is one of my tried and true recipes....
BLUEBERRY BONANZA
CRUST
3 cups digestive biscuit crumbs ( I actually use a oreo crumb base sometimes)
1 teaspoon sugar
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup melted butter...

Here's another I have made for a group....it is a nice dish to have with other dishes.....and does not taste like the normal beans! WIth the liquid smoke it has a flavour all it's own....and my guests loved it!
BEST BEANS
1 POUND BACON
1 POUND HAMBURGER
2 CANS BEANS
1 CAN KIDNEY...

THis is the dish I made for our potluck dinner when we were in Myrtle Beach ... I am not a fan of curry, but this is pretty mild tasting...also done in a slow cooker, so easy to transport!

That is awesome....sounds like the bird is right here beside me! I loved golfing in Myrtle Beach in the mornings - the sounds of the birds - different species from here - were incredible!

I have never actuallyseen a Red Cardinal....but they are in the area as freinds have seen them - but they are rare here. I am sure there are more kinds of birds than I listed in the treed area behind us,,,,and I so love the tunes they can peep out - especially several different kinds at once...

HUMMERS....they arrived on May 10th here and will leave around August 26th - and in this short stay they are our entertainment! Our feeders are right on the breakfast nook windows, so we sit here frequently and are entertained! We also have

Thanks Ron - just knew you would be to the rescue! Will check out that site. My friend told me nothing will kill them....but I am sure there must be something! No problem to treat his wild strawberries....he doens't do much on his lawn and just did the weed and feed on it - so if I can find...

Treva - how special that you were able to get your grandpas flowers for your own garden. I have several peonies that are doing great - but my zone is so different than yours. I agree with the sun/shade part so they don't get too much heat. And as Mainey said - be cautious on how deep you set...

my neighbour has a ton of wild strawberries growing in his lawn and our lawns run together, so you guess it....I am getting the strawberries over in our lawn. Last fall, I dug them out by hand and was just out today, trying to keep ahead of it. There is a vine type weed too in that area and...

WOW - that is quite the machine Smelly....I have a Mantis and just love it! It is nice to have the independence of your own tiller to do what you want , when you want! Enjoy :)

Yes - the west coast certainly got hammered this year. Every time I heard from my stepmother and sister living out there, they were either sliding on ice or shoveling. My nephew loved it though!

There is cause to worry about the decline in bees Gloria. I had heard last year that they were at a premium and then I heard rumours as to why - one was b/c of all the cell phone signals shooting through the air from the towers, etc...and that was killing them. DOn't know if that is the real...

I spent my childhood Days, Randy, on the west coast....on the Sunshine coast outside of Vancouver, but we were able to swim from April to October! Here on the Atlantic coast -on a hot day in August the ocean will get to 68F and we think that is warm!!!! But then, warmer waters, bring critters...
