    Yeah, it's always a gamble. That's why I over-plant. Gives me one more chance if I need it. I would rather push the envelope, as they say. Many times I have good luck and sometimes I lose, oh well.

    Styxjustrocks~ Sorry I didn't see your reply til just now. I am in 6b just a little west of Nashville, a flat-lander to you, lol. We usually have a last killing frost around April 15th but I have gone out and covered stuff up til May sometime. Averages are just that, half the time it's later...

    No, sorry. I haven't made tea with it but just knowing the plant family I would think it might be good straight or mixed with others. I like to use honey as a sweetener for most herb teas. Tried stevia, never could get it right somehow.

    There is an odd thing I discovered about Bee Balm leaves. Pick a fresh leaf and chew it a minute and it has a hot pepper, (more like black pepper than capsicum) taste to it but the INSTANT you spit it out, the hotness goes away.     Question about arbor for grape vine

    Digging close to an established grape vine might damage some of the roots but wouldn't kill it. Cuttings are easy to take and usually a good percentage of them will root. That way you can have 3 more grape vines of the same variety to plant at each of the corners. Just something to consider.

    With pole beans, once they begin to bear they will usually continue as long as they are kept picked, barring disease/insect/nutrition problems. Bush beans don't bear as long but after a couple "flushes" they can be cut off short, maybe 3 inches high, and they will renew the tops for another...
