F-Flowers is too easy, so let's go with Ferns, they're a favorite of mine.

What is your favorite flower, plant or tree?

I have unusual taste in plants I guess. My yard is a Northwest inspired mishmash of things. I already mentioned I like Shamrocks, as I'm Irish and they also resemble the local Sorrel. I also like ferns and moss, and have some ferns that get really big each year. I also enjoy bleeding hearts...

    You gonna start something?

You know, we were just talking about Courtney, and that brings up a memory of one of his sayings. He grew plants commercially, and he said he loved home stores. "They sell people the same plants twice, once early in the season, and then a second one after the late frost kills off the first one!"

    You gonna start something?

Sounds like a Disney Villain Wow, that's cool. So I googled it and it looks really cool. I was interested until I got to the "low water" part. That leaves my yard out... It's more of a seasonal bog.

What's the weather in your area? 2022 Edition

Well, it's fine to ask here, but sometimes I don't read all the replies, so I could miss something. We can't bring back the "dot", that was the old software. However... There's a way to do what you want to do: Up at the top of the page, under "Home" in the white menu bar, the first entry is...

What are they revealing? Usually that's gender, so maybe you already know but it's still a secret to the party goers?

What's the weather in your area? 2022 Edition

Partly cloudy with a chance of rain. Lows in the 40's, highs in the upper 60's. Since this is Seattle, that forecast won't change for at least a month. :)

Been reading some posts on here that Curbie shared with us all!!

OK, so a cute story about Courtney... I've been running a gardening forum for a VERY long time. We actually started back on GEnie, with dial up modems and a monthly fee to participate. Not only that, but there was a daytime surcharge of $6 per hour, back when $6 was a lot more than it is now...

    Hello to old members

OK, looks like we have gotten everyone back into their old account and back on the forum. So, now that we have a nice sized group of folks, I need your help and suggestions. What can we do to make the forum better? Is there a topic you'd like to see us cover, or do you have a suggestion for a...

Return of the word games - ABC Plant Game

The word games were a very popular feature of the forum at one time, and I'm going to give them another try now that we have some of the old members back. I didn't play them much, but I think the rules are pretty simple. Each person posts an answer with the next letter, then it's somebody...

    Word games anyone?

I never played them, so I'm not even sure how they work. Seemed pretty simple though. Would you like to start one and see how it goes? I'd appreciate it.

    What are you spring plans?

Here's a peak at the garden. It's pretty small and probably needs more care than I find time to give it. I only have so many hours in the day, and so many demands for my time. This was taken in spring, so the ferns aren't filled in yet. They are behind the lace leaf maple and Rhody on the left.

    What are you spring plans?

I know, right? My garden is only very loosely inspired by Asian design. It has rocks and moss and gravel "stream" and lots of ferns and well, shamrocks. I think they're cool, and also because they bear a resemblance to the Pacific Northwest native Oxalis (wood sorrel). I'd use the Sorrel instead...

    Word games anyone?

The various word games were pretty popular at one time. Is there interest in starting them up again? Seems like a fun way to create some activity.

    Recipe Sauerkraut anyone?

I eat it on rare occasion but have never made it. Is it hard? How long do you have to age it?

    You gonna start something?

Spring is here, or it's close anyway. That means it will be planting time soon. Do you start your plants indoors? If you do, what plants do you start and how do you start them? What methods do you use to "harden off" your plants when you make the transition outside?
