Cheap idea for a fun planter!

Also the top square is probably gonna be something like a lid, and I don't plan on attaching it but just setting it on top once I fit it properly.

Cheap idea for a fun planter!

This is a youtube video (what I want you to see starts around 1 minute and 14 seconds 1:14) showing what I'm gonna make with alternative and cheaper materials also better looking haha! Who doesn't love vertical planters! I thought this would be cheaper than PVC, wont last quite as long but...

    Paint or Stain a pergola

Yeah, I suppose the title doesn't completely reflect what this topic is now haha. But I continued to update my progress just in case someone may also be interested in what I've done. In a few weeks I'm gonna start ordering my next step of parts. Which will be hardware cloth (but before that some...

    Paint or Stain a pergola

I'm in the Central Valley of California, windy nearly never (I'm like 200 miles away from the Pacific) I'm nestled right at the foothills of the Sequoia National Park. But to be honest I haven't ever experienced any hurricane force winds, but I was pushing on the structure and it's pretty stiff...

    Great Seed Starting Idea

The blocks hold themselves together, they don't crumble and fall apart, and ROOTS will not grow outside of the block (until they just overwhelm it), they call it air pruining. So when it's time to plant in your garden you just dig a hole for the square and plant it. Apparently there is no...

    Paint or Stain a pergola

If you're interested in seeing my raised bed click here, I just did something really basic and ran it around the side of the house to clean the area up and make it useful (btw it's a link to my facebook page) And here is the finished Pergola.

    Paint or Stain a pergola

The pergola itself is about finished now its time to dig out all the grass around/in it for my raised beds. I'm not looking forward to that, and I gotta setup a water line under my concrete walkway for my beds.

    Giant Strawberries (questions)

No chipmunks around my area either.

    Giant Strawberries (questions)

Yeah, I'm gonna probably build a PVC stand and throw some kind of screen over it to keep the birds out. I just wondered if anyone else had tried these types of strawberries. The people selling them say they have a great taste (but that's their job) so for 3$ I'll give them a try this season...

    Giant Strawberries (questions)

So has anyone tried growing these Strawberries? I'm trying to decide if I want to grow them as I'm most interesting in the white type of strawberries as I've read birds tend to leave them alone as they don't ever "appear" to be ripe. But these are just so cool I was thinking they may be fun to grow.

    Largest seedless Grape

I need another variety of grape and I want a dark purple/black LARGE BERRIE type. Google is failing me, it keeps on showing me the worlds largest wine producers which I don't care about. So anything sounds good, I live in California so I'm pretty sure any grape grows around here. So thanks for...

    Paint or Stain a pergola

I gotta do some major pruning on my grape tree so I can get it to start growing up the beam. I had no idea how nice this was gonna look (and how much 64 square feet was. So I'm deciding on how big the raised beds are gonna be behind this thing, I don't see the point in leaving a few feet between...

Ways to protect a raised bed cheaper

I don't have squirrels around here really (we have ground squirrels around but I've never seen one in my yard). I've done wood bottoms and I'm not overly happy with the ones I've done. I was just thinking it would be cheaper to do the Concrete but maybe not after finding some concrete...

Ways to protect a raised bed cheaper

So in this picture I show the raised beds (the black color). I'm trying to decide what I want to put at the bottom to keep Pocket Gophers out (we have tons around here). I used hardware cloth in my other beds, but that stuff is just too dang $$. So I'm trying to think of good alternatives like...

I took a picture of it, but it was kinda blurry - So I'll add one tomorrow.

    Paint or Stain a pergola

Broke ground and got 50% of it done, I decided not to use concrete at all, I used the E-Z spikes they sell at Lowes (bit more pricey), but so far I am very happy with them, drove them in 3 ft, they had NO issues holding the 4"x4"x7". I tried to pull them back out (just to see), and was unable to...

    Paint or Stain a pergola

This is how I'm going to tie it into the yard now: This is my final revision of the pergola layout I think. So this gives you a basic layout of my yard. As you can see I built a structure for the grape tree - I didn't realize until reading a bit how big this thing can get, so now I feel a bit...

    Paint or Stain a pergola

Yeah, I ran into the problem of how many 2x4's are going to go on top. So now I'm gonna decide on spacing, but I want a 2x4 on the edges, and 1 right on top of my vertical 4x4 as I am thinking of cutting a cross brace for stability.

    Paint or Stain a pergola

Here's a 1/12 scale of it. Can't do much work during the night so I figured this would be a fun project to do for a bit.

    Paint or Stain a pergola

Hehe, I reclaimed this from my uncles property. He use to be a Bee Keeper (236 hives). So he has a bunch of bee trailers, of which he just stacks tons of stuff he doesn't use anymore, he doesn't have bees anymore but it would be nice to have some honey! I'm probably gonna start bees soon as...
