    Paint or Stain a pergola

I'm really having a good time. While I'm deciding on the final plans, I've been taking my time sanding the wood so smooth that it feels something like a really high end table. But I'm trying to keep the woods originality while matching it to my raised bed's. I've really carved the wood nicely in...

Making your own inexpensive potting mix

What I use for Potting mix is... STRAIGHT COMPOST! But the stuff I'm talking about has finished it's composting stage, and broken down to the feeling of dirt. I following a gentlemen on youtube, and he plants exclusive in compost + mycorrhiza (just a tablespoon or so per plant) + rock dust. I...

    Paint or Stain a pergola

I was thinking the same thing after sanding it a bit. I had no idea it would look so nice after some sanding. I'm gonna do a bit of testing before I make a final decision.

    Paint or Stain a pergola

So this is what the wood looks like after running a 220 grit over it a bit. I'm wondering if it's worth all the effort to make it look like this (I've never really set down and sanded like this). I just can't believe how insane it looks once I got it really soft.

    Paint or Stain a pergola

At the ends of the 4x4's I was gonna hang my topsy turvy's I thought that would make it look pretty cool. I'm considering bricking in the bottom of the pergola and putting a bench or something. With a mental picture of it, it would be like the "garden of eden" wrapped up into an 8x8 space...

    Paint or Stain a pergola

In that design they are roughly 1 foot apart. You think that's too close? Either way I'm always happy using less, how about the mean down the middle?

    Upcoming Spring Planting

So LUCKY - What is it with fruit tree's and fruits in general that takes years before they produce? I'm Generation X I WANT IT NOW! Upcoming Spring Planting

I'm also going to plant a Chilean Guava (I have a 1 foot plant and some cuttings I'm trying to grow). It was claimed to be the next blueberry, but hasn't realize the calling I suppose. It's a subtropical plant and is impressive with the lows it can handle, from what I can see it can handle lows...

    Paint or Stain a pergola

Probably a bit too cold for this California Blood haha. Let me build it first and then decide on if you want me over. I slapped on some test color on my 4x4, hopefully it'll be near dry tomorrow so I can have general idea about the look. I didn't use any wood conditioner, I want to see what...

    Great Seed Starting Idea

I like the idea with the eggshells but I usually crush them up and throw them in my garden. I will be starting my seedlings with this Soil blocker it's a bit pricey, but the concept of it is just awesome! Check this youtube, around 30s is where he shows it being used. I linked to the 2inch model...
