OMG! Cholesterol and calorie city, but wow does that sound dee-lish! Am I going to gain weight from looking at that recipe?
-
Thanks for the laugh! I needed that!

Randy, I'm so honored that you'd reward me with a "Rotten Woman Award." I had been wanting that award for some time....I just never thought I'd do anything worthy of earning it.

Bob, I love that word...."SNaing" is a wonderful description. Down here in Texas, it's been in the 80's today. It's nearly 11:00 pm and it's still 72.....To all of you who are buried under snow, "SNAIN" or rain.....or sleet or hail or whatever......all I can say is,
EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT!!!!!!!!!

Don't cover them...You want the light from the sun -- even if it's cloudy, to come through because that provides additional heat. You might want to invest in an automated thermostat -- or automated controls for your lights and for your heat.

What a cool looking plant! It looks really healthy! I think it looks great the way it is....so if it gets pink on the leaves, it will be a really phenomenal and cool plant! Congrats! It's easy to see why you liked it so much!

Hmmmm.....now let me see....
I wonder how you'd go about trying to compare apples and oranges. Maybe it's kind of like trying to compare snow and rain, or maybe even rain or shine!
That was hilarious, Bob! I see you've got a great sense of humor! Oh goody! I love good laughs!

I agree 100% with Jade. Potting mixes have a lot of plain old dirt and nothing to improve the drainage or to help the water move through the entire pot. If you can find a specific cactus mix, get that, but an orchid mix would work too. African violet mix is better than the regular potting mixes...

If you are looking for a bush, and you've got plenty of sun, burning bush is beautiful and come fall, the leaves would turn red. Witch hazel is nice, too...and the leaves on that will be yellow in the winter, but green throughout the rest of the year. Holly bushes will give you some beautiful...

If you have mini blinds and they break, cut the slats into smaller pieces and use those as plant markers. They work great in pots, too!

Best feeders I have found are either the plain plastic feeders made by First Nature (available at Pet Smart and usually at Walmart,) because they have a wide mouth on the jar part, and that makes it easier to clean. Aside from that, the reservoir and feeding ports are easy to dissemble and...

Yes, Bob. Male hummingbirds are much brighter and more colorful. The females are kind of bland by comparison. That may be nature's way of allowing female hummer's to blend into their environments. I didn't know you had Ruby Throats up there. I thought they were indigenous to the eastern part of...

What about some tropical looking palms? They will stay green all winter. Then you could have your tropical feel and your hubby could get the trees he wants! There are some really nice ones that don't look like the run of the mill palms.

That's Watergate salad!
Instant pistachio pudding

8 oz carton of cool whip
chopped walnuts
1 package of mini marshmallows
Dissolve the pudding in the liquid from the pineapple. Add the pineapple, and mix well. Add the cool whip, nuts and marshmallows and...

You have to drive 75 miles each way to get your groceries?
That's awful!
Here's a white bean salad:
small great northern white beans or Italian Canellini (sp) beans.... use 1 can, but I always double it.
3 or 4 green onions finely minced.
Fresh Italian parsley or fresh cilantro
Mix...

There are loads of familiar usernames over...

Bob, what kind of hummingbirds do you get there? I'm the most crazed hummingbird fanatic around. I watch their behavior because I'm so fascinated by their habits.
I've had that happen to me countless times. There's a big tree that is outside one of my bedroom windows, and they like to perch...
