Gloria, what kind of strawberries do you have? June Bearing, Ever Bearing or the Ozark whatever it is. Cabbage???? Are you planning to make a whole lot of cole slaw? I love cole slaw. I'll have to see if I can dig up the recipe I had for home made cole slaw dressing. I think it was 1/2 cup of...

OMGosh! You are amazing!!!!!!!!!!! Is Callibrocha the same as Million Bells Petunia?
I'd LOVE to see pictures of some of your containers. Sorry you're not feeling well......You've got some terrific ideas. I imagine that I might be able to ckeep things going through the winter. (Zone 8)

What kind of Cannas do you use? They spread so fast here, I figure I'd have to use some dwarf varieties. I am so partial to Tropicana, although Pink Sunburst is another fave. I've also discovered Picasso and some of the other dwarf varieties -- and I think they are so cool!
The combination of...

Rain, what's that? We haven't had any significant or measurable rain in.....two years, I'd say. I've been having a helluva time with tomatoes in containers. I'm beginning to think I need to look specifically for hybridized varieties that are more heat tolerant.
The other issue is the extreme...

What are tumbling tomatoes? I've never heard of them! They sound interesting. Are they cherry tomatoes or full size fruits?

That's good!
Growing tomatoes in containers in Texas ain't an easy thing to do.....Dale taught me that tomatoes won't set the fruit if the night time temps don't go below 70....And that happens, well, all the time around here from about the end of March or early April....I'm going to have to...

Good to see you, Sharry Lynn! Stop in when you have time, and you'll see many a familiar name. It's very pleasant here, and easy to navigate!
Hope to see you around more often!

My computer has plenty of exclamation marks!
Thanks, Bob!!!!!!!! There's only one bad thing about learning about stuff from other gardeners. It gives you the "gimme's." You go around thinking you gotta have this, and you gotta have that, and then there's that Eureka moment! No wonder my bank...

This is a very cool idea! They actually sell kits for herbs and other things with an egg shell, a small clay saucer, the seeds and the planting mix, and these kits aren't cheap! Your idea is better because it's FREE!

Unfortunately, my landlord doesn't want me to plant stuff in the ground any more (there's still stuff there, but I guess they've excepted that,) so I'm forced to grow almost everything in containers.
I'm wondering what other people grow in containers. Maybe I can get some ideas. Do you plant...

I just started some different types of lavender from seed. So far, so good. It looks like the germination rate is close to 100%. Can't ever have enough lavender. I found True lavender and Munstead in the grocery store -- much to my surprise!

Gloria, you and some of the others deserve all the blame for turning me into an obsessed tropical plant and flower fanatic!!!!!!!!!!! And to think, just about 5 years ago, I didn't even know what a tropical plant looked like, much less how to grow one!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm thrilled....I'm not sure...

Mantis are strange creatures. They are predators who trap their prey by ambushing them. If they are going to catch a hummer, they will do it by ambush. If yours aren't very large, they may not be mature adults. An egg sack can contain as many as 200 larvae.....But, the do eat the majority of...

What about moth balls? They aren't so great for the environment, but the smell is supposed to be an incredible deterrent. I can't stand the smell of them. I wonder whether putting something like a sharp metal wire on the shelf would deter them.

You are right, my friend....I didn't consider what was lost when we made the switch to that new set up. You are right.............it was downhill from the start. But yes, I think we all put our all in from the start of the site.
You know, though, my dear friend, that old saying "What goes...

Here's to toasting Ron and Gloria!!!!!!!! Their obits were perfect! I'm glad you were both so honest! For the record, Gloria, it wasn't months of content. We lost everything from at least a year. Everything from the official launch until now is gone.

Gloria, thank you for that final post! I don't go out when I drink. I don't want to be around other drunks, and God-forbid, smokers! Sorry about that to any smokers. There's nothing worse than an ex smoker....and that's me, approaching ten years.
I'm glad you added to Ron's obituary. I haven't...

Is there a cocktail hour around here?

Swindy, don't feel bad. I think I am dense ALL THE TIME! :D :o I guess that means we're both in good company!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe Dizzy will explain CRS to us.....She coined that acronym. It stands for "Can't Remember S***," but we prefer to refer to it more politely as "Can't Remember Stuff!"

Glad to see you here, Karen! Welcome! We're all coming over here, bit by bit. Eventually, we'll have a big reunion party! It's very nice here -- friendly and easy to navigate.
