    Thanks for all the help. It's not so big as the papyrus plant and not nearly so feathery, but thanks for the suggestion. It gave me another avenue to explore. It does look like the helleborus . The sections on the leaves are wider and they seem thicker and heavy. It only has gotten about 18"...

    Flower Identification?

    It looks like a dinner plate to me too. I love that they are pretty hardy, at least mine is doing fine in our zone 5b/6a. The blossoms look so fragile, like they are made out of paper. A great plant to have.

    Yes, it is a purple hyacinth bean and all parts of the plant are supposed to be edible. We only ate the beans and they were pretty good.
