    Hungry Hummingbird

MJ, I do the more concentrated when they come back here in spring from their long flight north, a little boost after their long journey. I don't do it in fall before they leave. By that time they should be pretty plump and ready to go. They normally leave here by the second week in September...

Sass, you're roses are absolutely beautiful. I just loved seeing them.:)

    Name this critter!

    Here's a better pic I think.

    Name this critter!

I don't have anything that's hard to identify but here's a 'cute' one, but you have to tell me what it's eating.

    Seed Catalogs

My catalogs don't come in until later as I'm in zone 4. I tend to only request catalogs from those that cater to my zone so mine are limited.

    Name this critter!

Is it a carpenter bee? I had a nest in one of my deck floor boards last year and we had to replace it. Boy do they really decimate it.:(

    Hello From Sunny India

Hey, there, nice to see you again. Boy, I've wondered how things are going with you. How are the boys doing? How old are they now? My eldest grand is eleven, she's a 'tween', now. :(

    Roses

I don't have any luck with most roses in zone 4. I have found that the minatures and flower carpet roses don't mind the cold winters.

    The Bluegrass Bunch

I always enjoyed reading this thread on the 'other' site but didn't post much. So I'll be lurking. I'm with you shine, the owner is the idiot not the dog. My dogs only chase squirrels.

    Which perennials and why

Dora, what a cute pic. I'd be protecting it too. I plant perennials as I really enjoy seeing them come back to life in the spring. Plus they're cheaper than annuals in the long run. I only plant a few annuals for instant gratification in planters etc. Any non invasive perennial that will...

    Weed Garden?!

Purple Loosestrife is a noxious weed here in Ontario. It is choking our wetlands. Shine, you can contain them but the birds will spread their seeds so watch out that you don't have anything that is noxious to your area. On a different note, my GD brings me oodles of wildflowers on her way...

What are your 5 favorite flowers?

I think all my favourites are the ones that are blooming at the time. So I really can't just pick five.
