    Composting????

    I think I would be cautious about composting Kleenex that had been used for colds or flu. It's unlikely that any pathogenic virus would survive the composting, but I like to be on the safe side. I would also use undyed or patterned paper towels if I was going to compost them.

    Welcome on board! Have you considered some herbs? Both thyme and oregano make a nice mat and are very hardy. Chamomile might work well, too.

    Tomatoes

    Tomatoes that are garden sown have a longer tap root as opposed to fibrous root mass. In most cases the tomatoes manage just fine either way, but apparently something in your garden this season, Kale, made that tap root the better root system to have.

    Sweet Meat Squash

    I love winter squash, but the difficulty in cutting them up keeps me from cooking it more often. I never thought about using some sort of power saw on them!

    You can also put the open zip lock baggie in water. Keep the open top out of the water, and the water pushes all of the air out of the baggie. A friend of mine bags up fish that way for freezing.
