That's so great all your pups have survived Curbz. As they get larger they'll be having pups too, lucky you MORE babies to play with!

You would have died laughing at me yesterday. I have 3 different pots. Yesterday, I carried all 3 pots outside (b/c it was so warm - 70°) so I carried them outside. As the sun was setting, I carried them back INside. MTM asked,"How many times have you carried these plants in and out today?" I had put them in the wrong places! "NOW LISTEN to me! " but then I started to giggle....gosh, I am such a dead give-away "NOW shut up and start listening b/c I'm bustered." :) Curbie

MTM didn't call before he came home so there I was.....standing in the deck doorway with a banana tree in my arms. "Guilty as charged!" Plus I was full of dirt on my sweatshirt. "Don't WORRY ~ dinner's ready! Here, hold this banana tree.Put it where it belongs. I'll finish dinner." :) Yep ~ bustered. Who knew a Curb could have this happen to them :) Snagged with a nana tree...... Curbie

Oh well Curbz we all get caught sometime or another lol. The little guys would have loved the warmth outside so you were doing a good thing bananamama!

6 foot tall banana plant?? Wow! Congrats Wombat! :D
And def congrats on all the pups Curbz! :D You've almost made it through winter, totally cool!

Okay, I won't lie. People always find out anyway. I've had issues at home and I'm grounded till the end of May. I got grounded till March the first time then I left home but they found me and some things I wasn't suppose to have (beer and cigarettes). I know I was wrong and I have some of my internet privileges back now. I was being really stoopid but not anymore. I like you guys so I hope you don't think I'm a total criminal. :/

I'm still getting the banana plants but that won't be till June. I can't wait to start growing stuff again! :) I also got 2 kinds of strawberry plants and hanging baskets so that will def be fun too. And tons of onion and garlic bulbs!

Btw, there's a total labelling mix-up with blood banana plants. A true blood banana plant is green on top of the leaf and red underneath. But there's also a Rojo Zebrina banana plant that's also called a blood banana plant. That's the one Crabber was talking about. It has the red splotches on the green leaf but the bananas aren't eatable. There's also a Gran Nain / Zebrina banana with the red splotches and it makes eatable bananas.

The problem with the true blood banana plant is that it doesn't make bananas or even pups cause it's not a true banana plant. But if you raise one for 5 years and keep it alive, you can chop it down at the ground and the cut stem will send up tons of pups.

OK, this is a little motherly advice.....pay attention. People treat you the way you treat them. This was my classroom motto for 30 years. If you're going to act like a brain surgeon, then you will be treated like a BRAIN SURGEON. Sorry for your difficulties but on to more bananas.......I'm looking under these new leaves and I see no red leaves but I THOUGHT I had a cavendish. Can I water the puppies now or not yet? Curbz

Hey Trax just move on but learn from what happened. I tell my granddaughter this all the time. and sometimes she does.

Good points guyz. Btw, I know 2 members will notice that my FaceBook account got deleted and somebody may notice that my LastFm account is gone too. Sorry. I really wanted to keep those. I'll try to get those back when I can. :) Right now I don't have the option to make new accounts.

Anyway, @ Curbz. You really should try to get a Rojo Zebrina banana plant. They're way cool! :D And yeah, since your temps are like 70 then you can prolly give them a little water maybe once every week. But stop if it starts getting cold again. :)

I'm gonna try to get a Rojo Zebrina too. I def need something to do since I don't have my phone and can't even watch tv. I'll prolly be doing a ton more garden stuff.

Well! What can I say Josh?
We all did dumb things in the past!
Glad you are alright!
Just gotta learn from it and move on!

Yeah, mine was like epic dumb. But hey, at least I got to keep my accounts at "educational" forums and that included this one! :D And I can be online as much as I want - after homework and chores. And I can still play console video games. :)
What really hurts is that dad was buying me a new monitor for my pc and I didn't even know it. It just makes me feel like a total d**k. I'm never gonna do anything like that again.

Hey big guy good to see ya back! We've all done things in the past that upon reflection were totally dumb, it's all part of the learning curve. The past is the past and you've obviously learned from it.
Yeah my little pup has gone crazy with the wet and humid weather we've had lately and it's still putting leaves out! This is a pic I took about a month ago it's raining at the moment so I can't get another decent shot of it right now. All I have to do is try and keep my passion fruit which is right behind it, from climbing all over the little guy lol

As my Mum would always say Trax, we live and learn. I always learned 'the hard way' and I always got yelled at about it. Nothing like bringing home a 'stray cat' but I had OIL from under the car I took the cat from under. TALENT is NEVER wasted! Even if you come home with oil on your shirt......Wombat, THAT IS AWESOME! My trees look like not a thing like yours does.....wonder if I should move to Australia? I'd be the only person checking in at the airport with 3 banana trees. "NO! DON'T TAKE MY PUPS!" Maybe I shouldn't come to Australia. :) Curbz

Awesome, Wombat! Those leafs have gotta be huge! :D

Hey Curbz! I've seen banana trees that big at 5 different houses in town and 2 cafes. If they can grow them that big here then you should where you are! :D I can't wait to get mine and try it again.

Hey Trax I raced out between showers and measured the new leaf....almost 42" long and now it's putting out another one lol all this rain and humidity must be doing it, woohoo!
Curbie there's no chance your pups would make it through customs, but you could try! They won't even let us take some fruit from state to state here as different states have different diseases.....your babies will be huuuuge one day too !

My nannas are trying to come back. I think I am going to take advantage of them being frozen back and move one of them. He will be much happier in the full sun. ;) The one I need too move is a very larg plant. I hope I can dig deep enough. The old trunk is about 10" around. How far out do you think I need to dig to avoid damaging the roots too much?

Trax,
Dude, it has happened to everybody I know. It is called making independent decisions. Right or wrong they were your decisions. I am impressed you shared with us, and that you are accepting the responsibility of your actions. Now that you see your msitake, don't do it again. ;) Glad you are back!

I watched a guy dig up a huge banana tree. :) I put my foot by the stem and it was wider than my shoe is long (I wear size 6)! He started digging almost 2 feet away from the stem and dug a trench around the tree. Then he dug almost 2 feet deep then he dug under it and let it fall over. It was so heavy, I couldn't even lift it. He was storing it for the winter and chopped off all but 3 of the leaves. That banana plant is still alive and looks awesome!

And thanks! :) My decision def wasn't worth it. Friends that only wanna have fun and don't care about other people aren't really friends. They don't even care that I got grounded. But hey, I like growing plants so that's what I need to be doing! :D

Great decision Josh!
I was more into gardening and growing plants then spending time with so called friends who wanted to party.....I realized that they were only out for themselves!
I was probably around yourage when all this was going on....It is not worth getting in trouble just to try to be one of the group!

Here is some good advice: Do something you really enjoy doing, and then go find someone who would be willing to pay you to do it! Or, start up your own gardening business!;)
