Help!!
I need to know why my zucs and summer squash are rotting, they are getting 2-3" then they rot, i picked a good size zuc the other day and the end of it was rotted.
Is it caused from lack of water?
 


You know, I haven't seen a bee in a long time. We do have a praying mantis that is adorable. I don't know where the grasshoppers went. "WHERE'D EVERYBODY GO???" MG, I wonder if (in your 2 moments of spare time) you can get bees (you can laugh) on-line? Boy, the UPS guy will love you......Let's come up with a solution, kids. :) Curbie
 
I still have my neighbors bee hive and I really want him to leave it here for EVER! I hvae so many bees. And yes he gets his queen and a couple drones on line. They come in a little screen cage. The queen has a dot on her back so you know which one she is.
If you don't have bees or want bees, buy a paint brush ...or use a q-tip ;)
 
Well, I was watering the veggie garden and found a large hornworm when checking the tomato plants!
Silly me threw it on the grass and squished it! I brought my foot down at the wrong angle and got pooped on right up my leg! Gross!
It actually sounded like a fart, then splat!
Lucky I had the hose in hand and washed the poop off my leg!
Then I found a smaller one and squished it too!
Now I know why I used my pruners that last time I did the dastardly deed ~ years ago!
Off with their heads!!!

I'm going to have an awful lot of tomatoes when they start ripening and don't think there will be very many under 2lbs each!

Hey Curbie,
It's easy to get bees! :D I put honey on the sidewalk about 2 years ago and we had a zillion bees. Everybody was freaking, it was sooooo hilarious! :D

I went to water the garden before midnight and all my racoons were following me so I gave them some cat food. They love it! :D

Aw....look at your babies, Trax! Do you feed them? I have a hamster so I'll trade you a hamster for a raccoon! I'm sure my neighbors would LOVE the honey idea on the sidewalk. Maybe I could smear it on the fence but then the cat will fall off. We used to have so much clover anad now we have about none. We live right beside a field but they cut the grass too often up there so the clover is always being chopped down. Yep, I'll let my neighbor walk RIGHT through the honey. At University of Maryland, I lived across the street from an apiary. My Dad asked about my grades one time ~ well......i didn't go to class b/c i went to the apiary and then I went to the dairy barns. I didn't have TIME to go to CLASS b/c then it was time to work in the dining hall. I am exactly like my Mom.We had a beautiful calico cat (Molly). I came home from school one day and Mom said,"be quiet and listen". Molly had given birth to 7 kittens in our basement. I had a turtle who escaped and I found it a year later in our pots and pans cabinet. My hamsters have lived IN<<< the piano. WEll, WE will all be expecting tomatoes in the mail,Ron! :) and a raccoons. You know what I'd like to grow is corn ~ but I'm busy with bananas. :) ~Curbie
 


Cool Coons Josh! I had a friedn who fed the coons every night on his deck. He had several generations. They would bring their babies as soon as they were walking. My friend started rolling a basketball to them and they would roll it back. They played with him everynight. I was so worried when he sold his house, I felt so bad for the coons because you never know , even if someone says they will do it, will they will follow through? :(
 
Raccoons love corn, Curbie. If you plant corn and feed raccoons, it's doubtful there would be any corn left you you and MTM.

I def needa try rolling the basketball to the racoons! :D That would be awesome!
One of my hot pepper plants in my indoor garden has 3 flowers! :) I used a Q-tip to pollinate them so I hope those flowers turn into peppers now. :D I needa check the pepper plants in the back yard too. They're still alive but I dunno if they made any peppers yet cause we always water them at night. Omg! I gotta do homework too. :eek:
 
I GOT a CUCUMBER TODAY! It's from seeds from SandiB. I was yelling at MTM at 7AM "LOOK WHAT WE HAVE!" OH! it's a cucmber.......but see these seeds came from Ohio and I don't like Ohio BUT WE GOT A CUCMBER! (No comments please ~ this ad had been sponsored by the cat.I think it's asleeo. I wonder why cats don't stay awake? ) ~ Curbie :)
 
I love cucumbers! :D specially in salads! I needa try to grow some.

Update:
My indoor beefsteak tomato plant is doing awesome and it's almost 2 feet tall now! And now one of my Tangerine Pimento peppers has flowers on it too! And my indoor prickly pear cactus is making 4 new cactus pads! :D
This indoor garden thing is def working!
 
I have a freezer full of yard long green beans. I was too lazy to can them. :rolleyes: They keep producing so now I am giving them away.
I have 2 watermelons ready from a volunteer vine, pepers are off the chain I have pickled for the fall church festival and given away soooo many, and they just keep coming!
Tomaotes are coming back now that the rain is slowing down, and the eggplant are producing wildly.
Trying to make space for my fall crops of winter squashes , greens and such. Just too hot. I planted collards 3 times and they just are not coming up. I have a total of 3. Guess I'll try again in a few weeks.
 
Wish I could say that we had good luck with our harvesting this year, but the chipmunks ate $400 worth of blueberries, the jap beetles desimated the greenbeans, and the tomatoes have been pecked by birds. A very discouraging year. And the hot pepper spray didn't work either.
 


Well.....I don't how to hurt a chickmunk. Beetles ARE bothersome. Somebody ate all my mums. Do you usually sell your blueberries? It's nice to 'see' you Jade :) I've missed you. ~Curbie
