I have a horn that my sister-in-law gave me that I need to install in my little pickup. It will play tunes, but I think you program it to play what you want. I have to reinstall my radio in the truck too. I haven't used my 2 meter ham radio since I switched trucks.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I will be back on the pears today. My friend Salvadore bropped off a couple of flats of Roma tomatoes yesterday while I was gone, so salsa making is in the offing.
I can't believe you will use Roma tomatoes for salsa.......of course I don't know how big a 'flat' is. Mmmmm, tomato, cucumber, and onion salad in Italian salad dressing-ish dressing. Oh, put olives in it(black or green), too. ~

Randy, my brother in law had one of those horns that played tunes. Yankee doodle was one, and the old gray mare. He played the old gray mare when he pulled up at my house

) Course, he's about 10 years my senior so I knew the old stallion was pulling up

Curby, come on down..........there's a vacant house or two around here somewhere and I'm always happy to have new nice neighbors

Curbie, a flat is a container that would hold 12 of those cartons that hold strawberries. So with the cartons out of the flat, there are about 10 to 12 pounds of tomatoes. I like to use Romas for salsa. That's why I planted 4 plants of them in the garden.

Marie are you getting this nice rain today? We have had 2 rainy days and today is looking like another one.

Thanks for the invitation, Frogger ~ no that I can live in a vacant house I'll look truly homeless

("Does that lady know where she lives?") ~

I'm trying to compare 12 pounds of tomatoes to 12 pounds of potatoes b/c I can only think in' potatoes' ~ so that's a LOT of tomatoes. Is salsa hard to make ( really, all I want to know is how messy your kitchen gets.) ~

A small area gets pretty messy. I also get a few snide remarks for the odor. But the one that makes the remarks will be the first one to eat the salsa. David can go through it faster than I can make it.

Curbie, I think it is easy to make, but I make a two-day project out of it. I do all the chopping on day 1 and cook it and can it on day 2. I make a 5-gallon pot almost full. I use 40 cups of crushed tomatoes. That's 10 quarts.
WHOA! I would think that mess in the kitchen is WELL worth the aroma! Do you use cilantro in it? I buy cilantro just to smell it

Always! I think I use a full cup of chopped cilantro in one batch. I don't make salsa without cilantro except fresh salsa when I don't have it available.
You should see me in the grocery store......wandering around with a bunch of cilantro, just smelling it. I guess laundry detergent has nice fragrances but if they made laundry detergent that smelled like cilantro, I would be the first person to buy it (ok...and the only person).

Three of the adults in the house like the aroma and taste of cilantro. I don't think David and the kids care one way or the other.

My friend always uses roma tomatoes in her salsa. She only makes fresh. No one has tomatoes here this yr so no one will be making any salsa. They all got the blight. The green ones are rotting on the vine and on the counter before they are even ripe. It's sad throwing away all those tomatoes without being able to eat many of them.
That is so sad, MG. Now here is something odd that happened today b/c this lady was adamantly against our DogPatch and she showed up with a rescue poodle named--Roma. I can remember that b/c you all make salsa

I start salsa tomorrow. I will finish it on Tuesday if all goes well. I've pretty well decided to make the first batch a mild one as 5 of the family prefer it that way. I'm going to have to hide it from David or no one else will get any of it.
I can just see David and I chasing each other through your house after the salsa! What do you eat it on? I love white corn chips and salsa.~ C.
