Breakfast is pretty simple. I have a cup of cold or hot cereal, one fried egg, and a strip of bacon or sausage link. On Saturday though, I take my wife out to breakfast and I order scrambled eggs (2) and bacon (4 strips), burnt hashbrowns, and rye toast. MF gets a strip of bacon and some of the hashbrowns and a piece of the toast. We get a side order of scrambled eggs for MF. Another strip of bacon goes to another lady that joins us every Saturday for breakfast, and a third strip of bacon goes to a fellow at the same table. We have been meeting for breakfast on Saturday for over 20 years. I watch the carbs though as I am diabetic.
 


I suppose you could say that. There are about 6 to 8 of us at the same table. Once in awhile a grandson and his beautiful wife will join us and that always brings a bit of life into our group. It isn't my grandson, but I would be proud to have him if he were. I have known his mother for almost 30 years. His mother was in a young people's (college & career age) group that met at our house on every Friday evening. My wife and I were counsellors for those kids for 8 years.
 
It's a little warmer this morning and I haven't really made up my mind what the day will bring. I need to get my flu shot though and probably do some bill paying online. If it doesn't rain on me I'm thinking I will go out into the filbert orchard and se what the harvester missed. They harvested the orchard behind us and on the east side of us last week. The orchard on the west side of us hasn't been harvested yet.
 
What'd you find? We used to watch cartoons with my Mom and Yogi Bear said,"The farther you go into the woods.....the more nuts you find."

Hmmm! Well, I was out there, so that's at least one nut. But I did fill a two-gallon bucket with filberts (hazelnuts) too. I'm sure even more will fall along with the leaves now too, but it is really hard to find any once the leaves come down. The squirrels don't have any difficulty though.
 
I love squirrels, even when they dig up my plants to hide the peanuts I feed them. I'm sure in your orchard, I would simply be rolling around on the nuts and eventually falling. AND there would be TWO nuts out there you and me ~ :)
 
Well, we have loads of the little varmints around here. They are chubby little critters too as they have plenty to munch on. We have two filbert trees in the back yard, but I don't even try and get them any more. You have to get out there early before the squirrels do. We have third tree right across the fence in the pasture, but the goats get the filberts from that one. It's so funny to see them out there crunching away. They swallow the shells too.
 
For not having anything really planned, I wound up having a pretty busy day. I got some small stuff taken care of and made my shopping trip to the market to pick up what I needed for tomorrow's dinner.
 


Never had a goat. I'd like a cow ~ uh, a cow in a townhouse.......well, I'm not going to GET it but I'd like one. :)
 
I don't think you would like it for long, Miss Curbie. My brother did the milking when we had a cow. I liked the result of having the cow though. We had more milk than our family could use and my Mom would use up the extra cream by making ice cream with it. That was REAL ice cream. When we first bought this place, my daughter said she wanted to get a cow, but I talked her out of it. They have to be milked twice a day whether you feel like it or not. And even though it is not that common, my mother got undulant fever from drinking raw milk and almost died. I know we have a tendency to bad mouth processed foods, but I am a great believer in pasteurized milk as a result on my mother's near death experience.
 
Right! But at least you can get a couple of pygmy goats. They are cute little varmints. The reson I say a couple is that goats are quite gregarious. They like company and are much easier to contain as long as they have a friend. Now of course if you wanted to be the friend and always hang aroung the goat, you wouldn't need but one. There could be a problem though should you choose to go shopping or something. But I suppose you could get a little jacket like "working dogs" have and embroider some lettering on it that said "working goat". That way you could take your goat with you to the market and other places. The goats can be a little indiscreet though once in awhile, but I am sure you can handle that. Fiona took Daisy, one of the Cashmere goats, over to the local university one day to show in a science class, and wouldn't you know it, Daisy waited until we were inside the classroom to show the students what she thought of them.
 
OMG ~ I am SO blessed that we are not neighbors! LOL We all would get into WAY too much trouble. I'd be walking through the grocery store with the goat, singing,"WALKING my baby back home", swinging my cane. If I get one more animal, there surely would be a divorce. 4 cats, a dog, and 'Still Milton' (he's #5 of Beta fish so since #1 was named 'Milton', they all have been called 'Still.......Milton'). How big is a 'piglette' goat? :)
 
I never weighed one, but I would estimate about 35 to 40 pounds. The Cashmere goats are larger by about twice and the Nubians are about thwice that. We only have the two Cashmere goats now, but we have had three pygmies and a couple of Nubians in the past. The two we have now are twin sisters. But Fiona got Daisy first and bottle fed her through the first weeks. That was when we had Pepper, one of the pygmies, as a stablemate for her. But when Pepper died, Fiona went back and got Lily, the sister of Daisy. Fiona had Daisy de-horned when she was small, but by the time she got Lily it was too late for that. Lily likes to have me scratch her head between and right behind her horns.
 
So, that would be smaller than our dog........our kitten was trying to chase a squirrel this morning. It was hysterical b/c the squirrel was clearly ahead of the kitten. Smudge didn't care for that but I closed the deck door and Smudge continued to ram her head into the closed door. My Lord ~ the comic relief in our lives. I adore when some'thing'/'body' behaves worse than me :) ~ Curbie (Due to being stupid your life has been cancelled.....)
 
You are dumb like a fox, young lady. I get a kick out of when my farmer friends tell me they are just a dumb old farmer. That's a common ruse to make you let your guard down. LOL I don't think there is any such thing as a dumb farmer. If they were truly stupid, they could not survive in farming. I have a retired farmer living across the road from me and he pulls that on me once in awhile and I just roll my eyes and say, "Yeah, sure!" He and his daughter are great neighbors though. We have good neighbors all around us.
