Aha! So you admit it. LOL Well, for whatever reason, we know that we can call on neighbors when we need a hand and sometimes we don't even need to call. I think it was last year or year before when we had a pretty heavy snowfall, the neighbor behind us got out his big John Deere and cleared not only our road all the way out to the highway, but came into our driveway and cleared that enough so we could get out. My little tractor wasn't working then so that was a big help.

Ms Curbie, it's the "going green" thing these days with fabric and yes, it's made from bamboo fiber. It's extremely soft and hard to manage when sewing. No mam, we're not using any of the push button machines..yet. We don't work on a production level..I'm glad of that cause I'm getting older and a lot slower!
I made myself some blouses and short sets from their material..some that was given to me when they cleaned out the bins. We can also buy from them and the irregulars are cheap! LOL
I like wearing the soft material, it's very comfortable and has enough stretch to move nicely. They're adding another line of Yoga wear for adults. This should be interesting. I'm excited to get back to work..can't ya tell?

I'm so scattered lately that I haven't gotten on for a week or more. It seems lately that every weekend is cram full of grandkids birthday parties, visits, social goings on and I'm finally able to get outside a bit with the nice cooler temperatures and a bit of rain.
I thought lots of my plants had died but they are coming back now and it sure will look nice when I get it all trimmed up)

I love fall b/c everything seems to get re-born ~ cool fresh air. My tomatoes came back! I learned to sew on a Singer sewing machine b/c I had a grandma who made quilts so I got to try to sew patches together. Most of them came out a WEE BIT wrong and Grammie would have to come up and get my finger out from under the presser foot b/c I had sewn my finger in the patch. I learned patience ~ ~ ~ "GRAMMIE! COME HELP ME!" please....I'm bleeding to death~ 
The next class the extension office is putting on is a sewing class and I thought I would stay home for that one. But heck, I might learn something if I went. I haven't sat down at a sewing machine much through the years. The only one that I ever used was my Mom's treadle Singer that she bought used when I was a year old. Even in 1935, she paid $100 for that used machine. It had been used as a demonstrator for a year. It still works though and my older daughter has it. Fiona has an electric machine here and it is a Puh-phaph (Pfaff).
Talk about sewing..well, next week I'm going back to the sewing mill to work. I love to sew but not under pressure! Hubby has tests at the hospital this week so I talked to the super and Monday will get me back into the sewing line. Check out the mill..bamboosa.com. This is where I work. If you look close you will find some of the mill employee's pics but I refused to let them publish a pic of me. I'm kinda funny about my pics on the internet, I want control of my personal stuff via the internet!

The first mill I worked at ..I set pockets on Tee shirts the manual way. Took forever to do a few dozen. Now you stick the shirt under the machine, push a button and do no more..perfectly set and the thing doesn't even look like a sewing machine. We've come a long way I guess.

Well, I'm sorry to hear about hubby but I'm glad you are back sewing (or is that 'button pushing' ?)! We always laugh while on the road about answering the question,"What do YOU do for a living????" Nobody seems to nkow how to answer that-----uh....'road engineer'??? Well, really I set out orange cones and then I get to hold that sign that says 'STOP' or 'SLOW'...... . I can't answer that question ...Ms Curbie..hehehe. I do know that both are natural fibers and I can also say that my Dad grew cotton on his farm in his day. I was just a wee thing then but remember some of it.
I really like silk too... it's also natural and worms make the fibers! Hmmm, going green with fabric is not all that new, is it? I think all of them have chemical additives if the truth were known and I really think the truth is coming out, slowly but surely. I just like fabric that doesn't need ironing, doesn't shrink in the dryer and if I had my way..is stain resistant and washes itself!

LOL I remember the cotton fields in Texas. My Mom took us kids out one time to pick cotton and I figured out in a hurry that wasn't something I wanted to do for a living. My mother was a farm girl though and she put her back into anything she set her mind to. They hung one of those long cotton bags on me and I probably didn't pick 10 pounds of cotton into that thing. I think I was about 8 years old. I doubt that my little 5 year old sister was expected to pick anything, but I am sure my older sister was expected to and enjoyed it about as much as I did.

See, now I have a title besides 'Rotten Woman' ~ When we would travel to NC from PA, we'd see the folks picking cotton. My Mom (who I SLIGHTLY resemble) told my Dad to pull over to the side of the road. I'm the first one out of the car and Mom and I asked if we could have some. They gladly handed over some resh picked cotton. My Dad was yelling,"GET IN THIS CAR OR I'M LEAVING YOU HERE. NO MORE SOUVENIRS!" But this luscious black lady had struck up a conversation with my Mom ~ boy, was DAD mad! ~
Actually..Mr Randy started this whole thing of Miss, Mr and Ms. I like it! You are so right Ms curbie, there's chemicals in everything.
You might like the bamboo socks. I wear those round the house in the place of slippers. I prefer barefootin.. but when the cool weather hits, a snuggy pair of socks is nice. Please don't feel you need to buy anything from the site, I'm not advertising, it doesn't put a cent in my pocket to sell for them! LOL I just wanted to share my work place.
As for cotton fields, I'm so glad my Dad stopped growing cotton by the time I was old enough to pull a sack down a row. He went into tobacco, corn and soy beans. Work in tobacco wasn't fun either, it's come a long way since then. Everything is handled with machines now.
Well gosh I've rambled from one thing to another..let me hush.

I change my socks about 3 times a day so I will look into the socks. If we could rebuild our house totally 'green' I would. Thank you for turning us onto this site. ~ MS<<<Curb
Boy, bamboo socks sure does create a funny picture in my head. Bet you can't sneak around in the house at night with those things on. Course I can't sneak around in our old house with cotton socks on either. The floors creak everywhere you walk. But I'm not complaining. It's home!
