I swear cats sense who they are 'safe' with. Our oldest cat (who was left by my daughter bc he is SO attached to me) comes to the table at 9PM and meows. I go to bed at 9PM ("Gammie, we're late.") How do they know what time it is? If I stay up until 10PM, I'm facing an army of faces and paws. Hubby has asked,"Have you ever NOT carried a cat around?" Yep, I was one year old. I love to hear them purr. They follow me like dogs do :) ~ Curbie
 
My Tom cat follows me everywhere in the yard.
He is for sure an outside cat cuz we really need a mouser so he does a great job with that.
 
The cats bring the live mouse in and THEN I spend half my morning trying to catch the mouse. The black cat (one of 4) is no mouser and looks at me as if to say: "These kids need to stop this." He follows me around while I try to catch this mouse~ no interest in the mouse, just me. It truly is comical. Animals truly have such dispositions. The black one went away with me and 4 months later, he got back in his cat carrier and went 6 hours back down the road. If I hadn't had that cat... ~ :)
 


I had a little time before dinner this evening, so I headed back for the bedroom and leaned back in the recliner and watched a movie on the Hallmark channel. The little black cat that comes in every evening at 10:00 came in at 4:00 and since MF wasn't there with her lap, she jumped into mine and settled in for the next two hours. That's very unusual, but it was obviously the best lap available.
 
We just lost our "Banger" kitty girl this past Saturday. She was 17 years old & had lived every minute of her life w/us (I was there when she was born).
She was my kitchen kitty..lived a very happy long life.
Our kitty kids now are boys, "Spanky" (age 15) & "B" (age 7).

Have our 2 BIG pups also (Star & Necco)..our house would not be a home w/out our furry children.

Sandi, I feel your pain.. these fur babies take a place in our hearts and to lose one is like losing a family member. I'm a dawg person myself but I know the kitties are just as dear...I had a few in my time.
Right now I have 3 minipins (5, 6, and 7 yrs old) that drive me crazy with their antics. Repo will grunt with a hugging sound when I hug him and mock me when I say "I love you." Sounds like he's repeating me! Littlebit is spoiled rotten...she "sneaks" by crawling on her belly across the floor and begs when she wants something. Buddy is my varmint catcher. No critter will get past him..rat, lizard or bug!
We lost our Lab, Angel last year, she was 17 yrs old. We now have a pointer mix named Hitch. He was a road side discard... but much loved and cared for now. Big dawgs are outside, little ones in. I will say that these are our last. I want to see each of them grow old and have good lives but once they're gone..no more for us.
 
We are at a point where we don't believe we should have any pets either, but there are still enough of them both inside the house and outside.
 
its always so sad to loose a fur baby.....I swore I wouldnt get another one, but I did it anyway......shes my shadow now......
 


We lost another chicken yesterday. It looked like she was out by the garden probably scratching around and just keeled over. There weren't any signs of trauma. It was Lucy, one of the oldest chickens we had. She was already a mature hen when she came to live with us over ten years ago. She probably hasn't laid an egg for years, but we don't keep track of that anyway.
 
Well..........this is a cheery thread :) Sorry Sandi B as I am such a cat person and Randy, God bless Lucy. Maybe the little black kitten was a premonition of things to come in your heart. It knew you would need comfort. I always say,"NEVER again!" but we have beta fish #5 ~ the original one was Milton (given to me) and since then, they have all been named "STILL Milton". All critters in our house are happy and possibly healthy :) ~ WOOHOO! Curbie
 
Had another busy day today that started with a doctor appointment. I got some shopping done for my wife's gift today. She spends a lot more time on the computer than I do and I bought a new one for her. It will run much faster than the old one.
 
What a GREAT GIFT, Randy! I remember when I was given this computer for my birthday and I cried like a baby. How nice for MF ~ Curbie :)
 
Last year I bought a flat screen monitor for her and had it hooked up to the computer before she got up in the morning. I won't be able to do that this year though. It will take me quite awhile to get the files from the old one to the new one. They make cables that you can hook up from one computer to the other though and I think I can make one of those to expedite the job. I am going into that with a scarcity of technical savvy though. But I do know how to download files onto a fklashdrive and move them that way if I san't figure out the direct connection.
 
I won't clean the hard drives in the old computer until I know we have the files on the new one. The old one will find another home right away. But I will format the drives before it leaves here. I told a couple that has breakfast with us that they could have it when I got my wife set up with the new one. The couple have never had a computer, so it will be a novelty for them.
 
I buried one of my chickens today too. Her name was "Hershey" and she was six years old. She was a funny girl who always sang when she talked. I will miss her.

Randy,you are a sweetie to rehome your puter to someone who's never had one! They are going to have a lot of fun.
 


I have 2 little Mille fleur hens that are almost ten years old and they talk to me whenever I go feed them. They have certain places that they like to be fed and petted
They just talk and talk
