I'm having trouble with quite a few plants in the garden. I've pulled up 2 of the tomato plants. The rest have a lot of tomatoes but the plants themselves are looking worse and worse by the day. Bush cukes look terrible but the trellised cukes have taken off! Pulled up a bell pepper and a banana pepper yesterday evening. One was stripped, the other shriveled up overnight. Couldn't find the culprit, though. Pulled a couple of onion plants that looked bad and the bulbs were pure mush. Fortunately I'm getting tons of green beans, squash, zucchini, bell peppers, hot peppers, and okra. Corn is looking fanstastic and with all the rains and wind I'm pretty happy with the fact that I've gotten this far without having to stand every stalk of corn back up after a storm. YET!
 
This looks like it's going to be a bad year for tomatoes. I've already pulled up all my Mexico tomatoes, and I noticed last night that one of the Giant Belgiums and one of the Sun Kings looks really bad, although they both appear to have different diseases.

It's just been so wet, even if I were to spray, it would be washed off before it could do much good.
 


My tomatoes are still producing and fairly good tasting. The wilting of the tomato bushes has stopped and I plan to prune back the one's that wilted. We shall see.
 
Sounds Like onion maggots. I haven't found anything to get rid of them that is organic. There are all types of chemicals though,

I shared some green tomatoes and jalapenas with my neighbor Mrs. Tasso down the street. Her son Roland grew up with my children. I showed her my raised beds and she said she thinks she will have some built as well. Her next door neighbor Mrs. Webb says something is eating her tomatoes as well. Taking big chunks out of them the same as mine. I will share some tomatoes with her next. I gave my next door neighbor Carmen and her daughter Raquel some jalapenas. Raquel told me they were so good. I ate one of my tomatoes I had set in the window to ripen last night. It was good but the skin was a little tough. I am thinking I will build one more raised bed. A large one 5x10 or 2 of them for more purple hulls and pumpkins.

I picked my first okra today. I let it get a little larger than I wanted. It is about 3 inches. It grew really fast. I want to cut the next ones at about 2 inches. My yellow squash is still shrinking. I am going to plant some more and see what happens. Something ate my first little cantaloupe clear off the vine. I saw the first bite mark but went to show it to Mrs. Tasso yesterday and it is completely gone.
 
I picked a Giant Belgium last night, the first great, big sandwich slicer of the season! Rushed inside and made myself a tomato and basil sandwich, which used the last of the bread, which is what I have to wait until tonight to try Randy's gifts.
 
Alrighty then yesterday I found several tomatoes on my plants some about the size of a dime and others about the size of a quarter.
I CAN'T WAIT til they are ripe
 
Dawn they will be ripe before you know it!!!! Now you can day dream about what they will taste like!!!
 


I got 2 yesterday and 3 today off my vines. They have started ripeing and are going to rippen to fast for us to eat. I have neighbors tho that don't have any yet and will share with them. I have had the sweet 100's for about 3 weeks now and they are delicious. I really like them the best.

I know what you mean most of mine just have blossoms. The ones that have baby maters on them are the ones we had put out in April with wall o waters on them. The rest have only been out for 3 weeks

U R Killing me. Send me a mater sandmich! LOL! Ok I do have about 5 full size getting ripe. The palnts are putting on new leaves and some flowers. Only 5 out of 35 plants have survived our crazy weather:(
 
I don't have very many plants but I don't need a lot. I just want enough to eat and share a few. I was thinking yesterday that I should have planted more. Tomatoes seem to do the best for me. I took 4 tomatoes to our pastor at church last night. They loved them.
 
I planted 17 tomatoes plants and have 4 volunteer sweet 100 plants. I will have more than I can use but I really want to make salsa. We use lots of salsa. Sweet 100s are my favorite too Maggie.
 
You can create a lot of good karma with a few home grown tomatoes. I always share some with my neighbors and co-workers.
