32F with winds out of the north.
Got around 2 inches last night.....everything is white again!
Won't stay long as the temp goes up to 43 this afternoon.
I can see open water out over the lake at the horizon....winds pushed out all the ice that the icebreakers were working on.
Both sides of the border are working on breaking up the ice so they can start up the shipping season next week.....
It's pouring here, could get 3" of rain, one good thing about the rain, it's melting the snow.. We need some wind to dry up all this water as the ground is saturated... Was sunny and 50 yesterday.
Heavy rain and very high windsall day yesterday and last night. We were awaken several times with branches fly onto the house. they guess this morning that we may get a sliver of sun today...winter was less rain that spring has been here
we had a wild ride last night......heavy pounding rains, and winds.......its calmer this morning, thankfully......and still 40......I see its 70 in london....so my friend must be happy.....
We did see some sunshine yesterday among the rain squalls but it stayed pretty cool. I checked the thermometer once in the afternoon and it was 49 degrees.
I heard from "Sailor" yesterday via e-mail. She has been dealing with some health issues.
yes, we are to get a string of nice weather as well......50's.....the sun made its appearance about 10ish this morning....the wind was still very brisk making it chilly still.....if that darned wind would only stop it would of been a nice warmish day...50's for the rest of the week and rain on the weekend, doesnt that just figure...
40 and sunny this morning........the wind died down a little so it should feel warmer than yesterday.....little by little we are getting to springlike weather.
37F with sunny breaks.
Going up to 52 this afternoon with isolated showers.
Josh! Not yet! Could be another week or so, if the temps stay mild!
Talked to a local water pump guy and he has been run off his feet with dozens of people with the same problem....some even had their cisterns freeze up and cracked due to the extreme cold.....I don't feel so bad. Our cistern only has a top layer of ice so we are ok. He will call me on the weekend to see if the pipe is still frozen, if is he will try a hot water technique to try to free up the pipe.....says since the ground froze 4ft down it may still refreeze....
The coast guard on both sides of the lake are trying to break up the ice on the lake to start up the shipping season, but are having a hard time since the ice on the lake is over 36 inches thick.....
OMG Ron, thats thick at 3 feet.......wow.......we are melting here....all the snow is gone....I can now see my garden......got to 50, but still had that blasted wind again......tomorrow its supposed to be 60.....we shall see....
Yes Woodie 3ft thick!
The lake will take a few weeks before the ice breaks up especially where we live since it is shallow and the ice is sitting on the bedrock!
I noticed that the run-off from the land is pooling along the shore raither then flow under the ice....in some places the run-off is flowing out over the ice....could pose a problem if there is a rapid meltdown.
Very few people around here have seen anything like it!
Going up to 48 tomorrow...so it will be a slow meltdown....it iwill be a bit cooler on Thursday. At least we didn't get the rain they said we would ...it was a nice sunny day.
