its 50 and partly sunny.......the wind has let up a bit......
yes, John, your heat is the same as our cold here.....wont give up.....please try to send it this way.....what I would give for 87 for a change.....instead of our chilly windy weather......I heard its suppose to be cooler than normal right thru may Ron......mother nature is not being nice to us this spring...
only up to 46F today, and rain on and off. Sky brightens for a bit giving me hope for sun....but that's it. yesterday was a showers and sun day with rainbows involved It has been a chilly spring.... I hope we get a nice hot summer!

Should be a great day to start raking up all the winter debris off the lawns!
Still some snow drifts on the lawns, but they should be gone in a couple more days!
30 here today.......sunny skies........supposed to go up to 50's today......and 50's all week......its not where it should be, but its going in the right direction....

by about the end of April, is where you leave us west coasters in the dust as far as weather goes! It may not have been as cold here, but it was colder than normal and so much rain!! and now we will limp along till the summer while you will jump into summer with both feet! and where we will be lucky to have enough hot sunny days, you will have plenty, and are able to grow tropical lilies in your pond while I can not because it will just not get hot enough here! this is where my hot sunny summer envy will kick in! lol.... We are actually looking with longing at moving up to a town called Osoyoos. It is in the interior, on a beautiful lake, supposedly the hottest lake in Canada, and is at the very northern tip of the Sonoran desert so the landscape is just like central California. And yes they do get days in winter where it is cold like you get Ron, they don't get much snow, and this whole coming week they are going to be sunny and up to about 70F while we will be lucky to get a sunny day with temps predicted to be not higher than 57F I am really getting tired of the rain, and would be willing to give up some of the mild winter temps here, in exchange for more hours of actual sun even if it is freezing out!

Not sure if summer will come that soon this year but more gradual!
The lake is still fozen over and it is going to take weeks before the ice is weak enough to start breaking up!
Got up to 50 and I was out lookin gthe gardens over and pulled the dead growth from a few ornamental grasses. Can't really do much else at this point.
There's loads of pine cones off the sugar pines all over the lawns so handed up getting a basket to start picking them all up....they are dangerous to walk on as they roll when you step on them so need to be cleaned up should have a bushel basket full by the time I finish at some point this week.
Expecting mid to high 60's by Thursday.
Tomorrow will be rain and thunderstorms with a high of 50 again then it cools down until Thursday......
The tulips and crocuses are just starting to show above the soil level and are really late....
Lost a good 1/3 of my cactus, which disappoints me, but the ones that did survive have to be really hardy to survive the long arctic blast in January....
North of Sonaran Desert!!!!! Go for it!! You will be able to grow cactus ...ones that will never grow here with our damp wet winters.......

The sun is up here and the sky is at least mostly clear. It was 46 degrees when I stepped outside earlier but the weather guessers are saying it will get up to 73 degrees. I will be happy with that for sure.
only got to 40 today and felt chilly with the grey gloomy skies.......started raining here about 5 as I walked out the door to come home....more 50's during the week.....we shall see...daffies are coming up little by little......we should have flowers by now......
Started raining in the afternoon and has been steadily getting heavier.....
......and a big WOOHOO!!! .......the ice on the lake started to crack up and move away from the shore line with the strong northeasterly winds....
Watched the first crack slowly widen and other cracks formed ......WOOOHOOOO!can't wait to see what the lake looks like in the morning!!!!!
As soon as the crack got wide enough fishing ducks and gulls moved in to swim.....they looked as happy as I was watching the crack widen to a good 30ft out.
39F and that's our low for tonight.... with strong winds out of the NE!!!

The ice on the lake is gone......the winds broke it up and it looks like all the ice pilled up at the eastern and southern end of the lake!!!!
We have open water where we are just about to the horizon!!!
The only ice left is along the shoreline and that should be gone by the end of the week!!!
It has been warm enough to disintergrate the ice and the rain and wind finally did it's job to break it all up!!
Going up to 46 this afternoon then cooling down a bit tomorrow, then back up again Thursday....could see upper 60's and possible low 70's by the end of the week!!!
Should see lots of sun once this wet system moves off to the east this afternoon...
finally Ron, a real sign of spring......goodbye to the ice......
rained all night and still gloomy.....but they promise us sunshine and 60 today......maybe 70's over the weekend......will have a big celebration then, open the windows and sing......maybe some buds will come out on the trees......finally get rid of winter.......
It was supposed to be rainy today, but we just got a few clouds. It may rain this evening though. The temperature was a mild 65. I can handle that. LOL
temps here were back up again...85F ......oh well maybe cooler soon.....we still have cyclones forming off the coast here in the Coral sea.....should have stopped a while ago, the ocean must still have warm currents flowing...

I can see the ice to the east of us, to the west all clear, to the south there is still ice at the horizon.
Expecting light winds out of the SW this afternoon so should see more ice on the move, and may get some ice movement back into our area.
Been reading up on El Nino and looks like there is a 70% chance of it forming at some point this year, they are not saying how strong it will be at this point, but the eastern Pacific is warming which strongly indicates it will form......if it does, we can expect wild weather patterns of extreme dought iin some areas, and heavy rains in others!! We will just have to wait and see what happens!!

Even though we have had what appeared to be lots of rain this year, it is still well below the average annual rainfall. The southern part of the state and California will continue to experience drought conditions. Our day today looks great as the sky is clear and blue. It rained last night so the air is fresh and clean.
Well it's wild weather comming up here as a category 4 cyclone is set to cross the coast of my state, hopefully in a reasonably remote area to the north. A minimum wind speed of about 240kmh (150mph) is being predicted, plus the usual torrential rain. Strange time of year for it to occur and my state has such a long coastline about 7000km (4400 miles) it could strike anywhere. I think I'll be fine here but further north not so sure.....84F here today.
Congrats about the lake, Ron! It's gotta be awesome to see water again!
The daffodils bloomed last week so spring is def here now. It's 61*F and we're gonna hit 85*F today. We stick around 80 for the next 3 days then drop back to 60's. The last freeze date here is April 15 so I'll be putting tomatoes, peppers, onions, and radishes out this weekend.
