    humate and/or volcanic ash

    have you guys heard of HUMATE? or using VOLCANIC ASH? in your garden??? a little confused with these new products I am finding.....

    Ashes in compost?

    Crabbergirl: isn't the run-off from hard wood ashes what you make "lye" with; or is that only after you boil it? We have a big ash pile here on the Reservation and it does eventually turn to dirt (suprize, suprize).. Grass grows o n it but never tried to grown in it; wonder what the Ph is?

    Just when u thought...........

    How interesting.... I noticed an Amish Man was arrested in Ohio for not having a septic system to code. They use an outhouse that has a bucket in the bottom of it and when its full the kids would drag it into the cow pasture and dump in the field with the rest of the manure. It's funny; but not...
