What's the weather in your area? 2014 Edition

GardenForums.com a friendly and growing community of gardeners. We feature a Garden Discussion Forum and Garden Photo Gallery. It's a fun and friendly place to talk with other gardeners, ask questions, share you knowledge, view and post photos and more! Whether you're a master gardener, or brand new to the hobby, you'll find something of interest here.

It is pretty small but I have been able to hit it on the first shot each time so far.

It's pretty forgiving about clicking on it. It's actually a white square with a blue dot in it, so as long as you get close you're good. I'm not so much worried about folks having trouble clicking it as I am them not noticing it in the first place. Not sure what to do, as "Click here to go to the first unread post" is going to be really hard to fit in that tiny space...

More and more though, I find myself simply using the "alert" system. It tells me about replies to threads I've posted in, and you simply click the thread title and it goes to the right place, not the beginning. Simple, quick and works great. So far I'm finding more and more things I like about this software!

Wow! I'm gone for less than a week and I thought I clicked the wrong link! Thanks Bob! :D Awesome new format and cool smilies!
Even a "Like" button too!
Your avatar looks good at this size too...

So when do we get skins?

We already have them. Look at the bottom left of the page, just below the green line. See where it says "Flexile"? If you hover over that, you'll see it says "Style Chooser" and you can go back to the default if you'd like. It is truly default as I've not messed with it at all. This green "skin", (they call them styles) is a custom one that we liked for it's simple and clean lines.

So tell me more about skins. What do you want from a skin (style)? Simply a different color? A different look and feel? I know they're popular in some forums, especially gamer ones where folks practically live online. However, at the risk of sounding like an old fart, I never really "got" styles.

Can you tell me what you'd like to see and what you'd want it to do? They have a huge selection, and I can add another one if it's something folks are interested in. I hadn't really given it much thought...

The more I use the new format, the more I like it. :D The smilie drop-down is brilliant and I have zero issues with the blue dot (1st undread post)... I must have really good vision cause it looks big enough to me and easy to use.
As for skins, it's no huge issue but I'll leave a few notes in case you have free time, sometime, and wanna check it out.
I'm using "Default" now because my monitor's set at 1920 x 1080 resolution and the "Default" skin stretches the entire width of my screen. The color scheme's cool but the "Garden Forums" logo is replaced with the xenForo software name.
My favorite skins are the dark ones like "Espionage". Green, black, and grays are my favorite color combos. But maroon, black, and grays is cool too.
But I'm not that selective so I'll just let you decide when you wanna deal with skins. I'm liking "Default" atm but even more if it had the "Garden Forums" logo. :D

It's 50*F now and going up to 82*F today. I've been giving my tomatoes and peppers partial sunlight so I might get them in-ground next week. :D Def not this weekend. The Weather Channel's predicting a serious threat for a huge tornado outbreak this weekend and into Monday. They're saying the conditions we have now were responsible for some of the worst tornadoes ever. I hope they're wrong but I won't be taking any chances with my plants.
It's def spring.

Looks like El Nino will definitely be forming at some point this year!!!
That is according to all the computer models. They are all calling for a mild non-winter for 14/15!!

45F with rain on the way for this afternoon!
Might get up to 52 this afternoon...
Winds are out of the east and will shift to come out of the north this afternoon.

50 this morning and maybe going up to 60.......wow the winds were howling last night.....I was afraid I would wake up in kansas.....
a mild winter next yr would be a real plus after this winter......lets keep fingers crossed.....

did get to 60 today, and sunny.........felt a bit humid so warmer today.....heavy rains tonight with thunderstorms......

The more I use the new format, the more I like it. :D

Me too! I switched another forum over since it was constantly being blasted with spam. Once I was done, I thought "Hey, this is pretty nice..." I showed it to the staff and Ron's reply was simple "DO IT!" The rest of the replies were also positive.

Oddly, most of us prefer this one for the same reason. The text seemed too wide when stretched full screen, and the narrower column seemed to make it easier to read. I also liked the colors, the bright and cheery look and how clean and simple it looks. I just plain like the whole look and feel of it.

However, since somebody likes it, I've tuned up the default template. I also added "Flexile Dark", which is a much darker version of this theme. You like greens, blacks and greys? You're probably gonna like Flexile Dark then! Check 'em out and let me know what you think.

Another warm sunny day here....managed to catch a few fish y'day (bream and flathead) but no winter whiting yet which is strange....probably because the ocean temp is till around 73F....should be about 68F.....will be 8OF today

Stunning day here, blue sky and warm sun, walked out on the deck this morning and could not believe how good it felt! still chilly in the shade though! Got my pond pump fixed and my filter box cleaned out....first time I've been able to do it in at least 5 years :( felt so gosh darn good to have some strength to be able to do that again :) I've also been going out and scooping disbree off the bottom, I think I got at least a full wheel barrow! My fish are sure going to appreciate it!

I Love Flexible Dark! Thanks! :D The color scheme is perfect!
All the most epic video games and movies are dark. Dunno, it just seems more awesome and I guess I'm just more accustomed to screen-wide text. It's at all the gaming, skateboard, and music forums I joined. But this totally does own so I can def deal with this!

It's 73*F now and going down to 58*F tonight. It's clouding up but I think we're out of the tornado watch. :D There's nothing but some isolated showers in the forecast.

Btw, there's gonna be an annular eclipse on Tuesday but you'd have to be in Antarctica to see it.
But Wombat may get to see the sun partially eclipsed since he's in Australia.
