I have used some weed killer I bought at a Home Depot. I know that you aren't supposed to just pull up the weed, b/c the roots can stay in the ground. So I've put up with this thing, while the herbicide does its thing.
The above-ground portion of the plant is definitely dead--its dried up and drooping. But what about the roots? At what point will I be able to tell that the roots are dead as well?

If the tops shrivel and die the roots are pretty much dead!
