ok so i am growing 44 plants of basil this year and i am wondering how much basil i will get from all the harvest and how much that is going to be worth in Minnesota

(ps im going to use sweat basil and it is going to be all indoors in a hydroponic system with plenty of light)

I haven't done hydroponics in a few years and have not done anything indoor beyond seed starting.

Last year I did about 10 basil plants and got enough for a little more than a gallon of pesto plus other fresh use like pizza and pasta salad. These were grown in containers on my patio and got about 750 mm tall and the stem was about 20 mm in diameter at the base.

I have only grow things for my own use but this year will start to donate some of what I grow in my community garden bed. If you're trying to sell it I would assume price is very dependent on the market you're selling to - farmer market direct would be a higher price than in bulk to a restaurant - then you'll have to find the market too.

well i was kinda just wondering how many oz or pounds you can get from it because this is going to be my first year with that many plants

I recorded my total harvest for 2012 season - about 89 pounds - but didn't break that out by what was harvested. I did break out the 2011 season - 112 pounds - but don't remember how many basil plants I had. The garden spreadsheet file is also on a different hard drive that I haven't put into this new computer yet. So far this season I only have 5 seedlings going strong plus one thai basil seedling.

As far as I know I am the only one here really recording my garden output.
