Hi, this is my 1st time growing the mesclun...salad medley. When I harvest, do I pull out the whole leaves or do I just tear / cut them off? Will it grow back and continue to fill my salad bowl? Pls advise, thanks.
:D

If you cut the larger leaves and leave the smaller ones they will continue to produce.

One of the stories I read at the nursing home this morning happened to deal with farm chores and the author told of how his mother used a butcher knife to harvest the lettuce. They stated that the kids were not trusted with the knife for obvious reasons.

You can keep your producing for a while by harvesting only the outer leaves as stated above by Kya and Randy. I always just bend the leaf away from the plant to break the stem then gently twis off the leaf. Using a silver knife or steel will cause the lettuce to brown and cause damage to the plant. Using stainless steel is ok.
