What are some reasonable cost alternatives for organic fertilization? I have been using chemical fertilizers in the past. However, the next season all of my nutrients have gone away. I need something that will stick around a little while.

First off make yourself a compost heap, it's the first step. There's a lot of sites out there that can advise you on the best methods. A worm farm is also a good investment too. It's a slow process reviving depleted chemical soil but depending on your budget you can buy in some compost to give you a quick start. A ph test is a must for your soil so you can go about rectifying any problems. The link below has a lot good ideas that will assist you......
