What is Diatomaceous Earth and How Can You Use It In The Garden?

I also know it from the aquarium hobby, where the tiny particles with lots of sharp edges are used in water filtration. They can be used to "polish" the water, getting it to be extra clear. What I really like about it for garden use is that it's non-toxic. It's just extra fine dirt. Granted...

What’s your favorite vegetable to plant?

Lovely photos, such vibrant colors! So you canned (even though it's jars) some peppers? Does that mean you've picked a peck of pickled peppers? Exactly what is a peck? Also, just who created a children's rhyme that can get rather obscene with the slip of your tongue.

What's wrong with my grandma's tomatoes?

I guess it could’ve been a touch of frost, sounds like a good possibility. Have they changed any? I’m sorry, but I don’t know the diseases well enough to guess which it might be.

What's wrong with my grandma's tomatoes?

Thanks, I do too! It's far more graphical, instead of just a big blank wall of text. This isn't 2010 any more. We can do photos. :)

Steeds Holly Bushes Not Doing Well

I think Ron's onto the problem. Typically yellow leaves are root issues, either disease or poor drainage causing root rot. His suggestion to have somebody look at them is a good one, but it may be tricky right now. Often there are master gardeners that will help people for free. But with...

What herbs will you be growing in 2020?

I don't do a lot of herbs, but I do have several very prolific lavender plants. I got them at the Lavender Festival in Sequim a few years back. I have 3 varieties I think, and they are on one of the few dry well drained spots on my property. Apparently they're happy, they grow bigger and better...
