Scotkat, you have to go a LONG WAY to post things MORE than I do on the wrong thread! LOL! I get busy having a conversation about banana trees on the What's the Weather thread and then I continue on with what we're having for dinner, meet a newcomer, and then I say a prayer for someone ~ ALL on the same thread! THAT'S a TRUE curb for you! Curbz

I"m not as guilty as Curbie with mixing up the threads! No one can beat her for shear volume!
I started the Everything Else Thread just for Curbie, but you can use this thread for the same purpose!
Coffee time \_/% !

If someone posts a really good reply/idea in the wrong thread I move them to the right thread, so don't fret!

Thanks, Ron for the compliment and all of your help for knuckleheads (that's going to be my first book ~ "Help for Knuckleheads!") :)

My daughter has a friend that was born in Scotland and transplanted to Australia as a young girl. I think she was responsible for my daughter Fiona to institute tea time in our home. But I think it is a wonderful custom even though I don't make a proper cup of tea. But even if I just drank hot water, the event is worthwhile. It promotes stress relief and a time for conversation. Involving the children also gives them the opportunity to engage in unstructured conversation. There must be a down-side but I cannot see it.

Curbie I don't think the "TeaParty" had a good start to begin with...Havent' heard about it anyway. Ooops, I like hot tea and cold tea. Love the tea cup and pot Ron

Hello Scotkat :)

Does anyone have/use china tea cups?
My mom collected them for decades and they have been rarely used.
Now they sit in a cabinette collecting dust!
I always loved using the large sized mugs and cups!
We have tea pots also and they rarely get used except for special guests of British background!
Those tiny handles on bone china cups were not meant for people with large hands...I love mugs with the large handles!

Well, I'd have to up my passport to get to your home. My grandma collected teacups and actually (and this may sound gross to some people) so close your eyes..... do not read if you don't want to know...... All of my families ashes are in 4 different teapots. There's a tiny metal one and a china one and my Grandma's favorite. I can't make tea in a pot anymore b/c....my family are all IN the teapots! Now THAT'S a cup of tea! Teapots have always been near and dear to me so.... what the heck. May as well use them in good faith. :) (Am I on the wrong thread yet.....again????) Curbz

I have a teapot. I got one after I was in England and Ireland. I loved getting tea in a pot. I even have some loose leaf tea to use in it. I do not have any tea cups. I only have mugs.

"I'm a little teapot short and stout. Here is my handle, here is my spout. When you tip me over....pour ME out. TIP me over, pour me out! " :) I have VERY old teacups. I don't use them much b/c I also like to use mugs. Curbie

I make my tea in my mug!!!
Tea pots make a great accent decoration in the kitchen! Only problem is that The get dusty from lack of use!

Fiona collects teacups too and the girls have their own. I use a mug myself, but I already admitted to doing everything wrong. Fiona will have a proper tea occasionally though and she will break out the nice cups and make a pot of tea.

One of my all-time favorite movies is Mary Poppins. I love the English humor when the Dad in the movie made a comment about the Boston Tea Party and he said it made the tea unfit to drink.

My late Mam was a real tea Jenny.

I can take tea or coffee but so hate tea bags dunked into the cup.

Tea really needs to be made in teapot so it can infuse.

And we are just back in from trying to catch out haggis for our dinner tonight haggis neaps and tatties.

I pack MTM's lunch every morning and I have NEVER seen the guy next door take a lunchbox. This report said most people spend over $3000 eating out at lunch and $1000 on coffee. I can't imagine just not taking leftovers and save that money. To THIS day, I can remember exactly what my Dad took for lunch EVERY day ~ bologna sandwich, a pickle, 2 cookies, and an apple. Well, I packed his lunch and it was packed the night before in a brown paper bag. Sometimes, I'd draw on the bag, too. (I'd get in trouble for that but I like to draw!) Curbie :)

I agree. I have several and they do get dusty. I change my decor every season so I retire the tea pots untill it gets cold. Then in spring I put out my flowers, in summer it is all fresh arrangments, then back to the tea pots

I collect bone china tea cups. My nana gave me all hers in her will. Hers were brought over here from Scotland when she was young. Sometimes I find one at a rummage sale.

I'm going to have to Google those, SK. I know what haggis is but not the other two.

My teapot gets about the same use as my coffee pot, almost every day! Teabags are ok but they don't have as much flavour.

I use bags because I make a cup at a time. But I really do enjoy sitting with family/friends around a pot of tea and just enjoying each others company.

I ALWAYS think about the character in Cinderella ~ Her name was Mrs. Pots and she WAS a teapot. I love that movie . The mice sing,"CINDERELLIE cinderellie...." I have this thing about mice/rodents. The other morning, MTM woke up and yelled,"MY GOSH THERE IS A MOUSE ON THE STEPS!" don't tramp on it. I put the mouse on my shoulder and he yelled,"MY GOSH! THERE'S A MOUSE ON YOUR SHOULDER! THEY CARRY RABIES!" Well, I had picked it up and put it there. Now we have 4 cats and nobody messes with much. Squirrels come in and go out through the dogdoor. Nobody eats the birds, whom I feed. We have a hamster who bites me ALL the time (it's name is RODeny-hey-hey.) I must have something in my immune system that keeps me safe from rabies. MTM doesn't know this and it's only b/c I went into the bathroom ~ he had a mouse on the shower curtain and never noticed. It was walking back and forth. I thought I'd die laughing!(Geez, I wonder if THIS is the one who carries rabies???) This is like the day chipmunk ran up the INSIDE of the leg of my jeans. HOW do you get a chipmunk out of your jeans??? 'ACCOUNT FOR YOURSELF YOUNG LADY." oh no.....that's a bad idea. Let's skip this part. We were at Lake Tahoe and I went out to start to pack the car and there was a chipmunk in the car. SO I fed it popcorn. I love rodents.
